Unanswered: IAC needed for GT

Here is a picture of the IAC that I need for my factory 2.2 EFI setup, I am also looking for a dual relay, although I do not have a picture of it.

That is NOT!! an IAC controller . . . it's the ignition ECU for the later model 2.2 LE FI systems with an electronic trigger (Hall effect) distributor like mine.

The IAC controller (#3) has two electrical plugs per schematic below:

Arrow LE IAC controller (more)

The IAC controller has "Leerlauf Regler" (idle regulator) written on it and is PN 0 280 220 017 (you can see the two plugs in image below):

Otto,
Thanks for the correction, it only goes to prove that "Opeler in Training" is still true in my case.

Just how important is the IAC anyway? I have one like this that came with my 2.4 injection stuff, but I'm debating as to whether it's even needed. I've read in some other car forums that cold morning starts can be addressed with the megasquirt fuel tables. Any thoughts? I'm also a newbie coming up to speed on EFI.

The IAC or as others call it intake air control or others throttlle bypass.
It just tells the PCM to idle up on cold starts or when you turn on the A/C. and other needless things.
Minor stuff unless you dont like stalling.

The IAC "Idle Air Control" will maintain a set rpm that the computer is looking for. That is why you can let the clutch out with no throttle input on modern engines and they won't stall if you feather it enough, as soon as the rpms drop the IAC opens up a little to try and maintain the set rpm. Since they are on very modern engines and sold by DIYAutotune to go with the MegaSquirt, I would think that it should be part of the puzzle if you want a smooth runner at all temps and loads.

Please tell more about the GM stepper motor.
Thats one very advanced work of art.
We took one apart a few years ago yes it looks simple ..until the controler came into the picture.

Here is the IAC valve I will be using; I made a bracket/valve body backing plate to make it work in the stock "early L-Jet Aux Air" [idle] valve location. The barbs are staggered slightly and this is no mistake, I just wanted to be absolutely sure there wouldn't be any overlap of the valve divider inside, with some careful measuring they probably could be on the same plane.

Jordan, looks nice. Be careful to fit everything on the engine including both exhaust and intake manifolds and anything else that is anywhere near the area you are working in. Mine is becoming extremely tight when you operate the throttle, everything is missing by 1/8"s, I even had to move the throttle return spring and take a corner off of my injector adapter plate. The spring was hitting the adapter plate and the adapter plate was also interfering with the wire connection for the temp gauge.

. . . that's the actual IAC stepper valve controlled by the IAC ECU, just to be clear.
