Thumbs up Florida Opel Club

We have quite a few Opel's in Florida, more than I thought!
Not sure how to start a club, but at least we have a thread started!
A list of local Opel owners and the cars they have?
Phone numbers?
Email address?
Junk yard meets?
Parts and info swapping?

The Florida Club is in "other clubs"
Emailed Gary for help.

JB, yep, it is hard to get people together.
Years ago most Opel owners just drove the cars, it was an inexpensive sports car. Now 30+ years later, they are getting rare and harder to get parts and mechanical help.
They are the second or third car for most of us.

Thanks to this site, we have a way for Opel owners to help each other!

Maybe a central Florida club will work now!?
Tampa Bay does have quite a few Opels.
I would drive my GT 150 miles for a meet.

People in the Pan handle and south Florida have a long ways to drive though!
Not sure how to keep everyone happy!?
Ideas?

i've just reached the point where mine is driveable and i only use it to go to work (about 1.5 miles) and feel lucky when it makes it there! can't imagine taking it any distance yet mostly cause i don't have that much confidence in my mechanical abilities (or lack thereof). if yu don't mind me showing up in a old subaru, i'm in!

I can basically drive anywhere with my car, just eats up lots of gas so every 150 miles or so I have to fill up the tank.
You can email me at blancojp@hotmail.com if anything comes up.

BTW, I have a substantial inventory of Opel part and upgrades.

Hi Ron, you live close by.
I haven't seen an Opel wagon in years!
Time is always tight for most of us.
Email me with your number, then if we get an idea for a meet we can contact each other.
I was talking to Jonzo last week about keeping the club real simple!
Just a way to get the Opel local folks together!

I still have 4 GT's

I'm checking back in.

Life got busy again.

How are the Florida Opelers doing?

I still have 4 GT's that I need to find homes for. They are mostly parts cars.
The 1970 is a good one to restore.

If anyone is interested let me know.

This Florida Opeler is doing great!
My GT is running perfect, thanks to this site!
Met a nice girl.
Daughter made honor roll again!

Maybe we could get together and check out the GT's together.
I really don't need anything, but I hate to see these cars leave the area, or get scrapped.
Let me know.

Lyle,
Sounds like you're doing well. Glad to hear it. Now all you need is to be able to do machine work for the fun of it and you're set.
Let me know when y'all decide to meet.

Well, I've just transferred into the Tampa area, still trying to mive everything here, look for permanent residence and get settled into new job. Has anything gone anywhere recently? I haven't figured out when the last post was for this group.

Welcome to FL!

Kinda hot right now, no rain for weeks, brush fires, hurricanes on the way.......at least will get rain
Been doing a lot of dirt biking and street biking, trying to have fun.

My Opel is running good, so haven't been playing with it much.
I have not met any Opel folks since the Zephyrhills show.
As always, time is tight for everyone, but an early Saturday or Sunday morning meet would be fun!
Some place central for all of us, a park is always good and shady!?
Just a simple get together.........breakfast is always good.
Anybody interested?
Ideas?

Hi Gene.
I thought the Atlanta area was a boom town for work?
Have heard people are moving from Florida to GA for cheaper property, work and insurance.
?

Lyle;
It is, but, Andy was in a unique type of job and was all over the globe (literally) at any given time. But, he got tired of it and wanted someting like a 9-5 job. I'll let him fill in the details, but, the new job is based in Tampa.

Welcome to Tampa Bay, aelegge (a.k.a. Andy)!
I've recently returned home myself after spending the last couple of months in Tallahassee working for our state legislature. I'm currently re-organizing my garage to accomodate four of my Opels. I purchased one of rdpulliam's GT's last December and am rotating it to the inside of the garage for it's restoration. That still leaves two of my GT's without a roof over their heads.
I purchased a couple of car covers for them and they'll have to rough outside on the concrete until I figure out what to do with them; they both need restoration as well. (I'm entertaining offers if anyone would like to take one off my hands!)
I'm open to any local get togethers - weekends work best for me.
