Unanswered: making FI parts in Solidworks

You know that pad that holds the Fuel injectors on the 75 manifold?

Well I am trying to reproduce that part in Solidworks

(Solidworks is a design program)

SolidWorks Products- 3D CAD Software

I have the pad mostly made but my problem is I need to merge the FI boss to the base and it needs to be tilted 60 degrees

Anyway I can’t figure out how to tilt/angle the one part and merge it into the other

Any experts in solid works

Also I want to know if anyone has any input on what angle the fuel injector should squirt the fuel into the intake port at?

I would have some PICS but I can’t figure that out either

"O"-ring Injectors

Dave, The later Opel FI manifolds(~1989 2.4/3.0L Omegas and Senators) have pates like that which are made to accept the more modern O-ring injectors. It might be an idea to make plates for that type of injector rather than to old "hose-tail" injector.
I will try and dig out the spare ones I have from a 1991 3.0L Senator FI intake and see if I can get you some angles/dimensions.

BTW: Tried to chat to my CNC contact who uses SolidWorks ... but he has volentarily committed himself at the moment - seems trying to position parts at 60 degrees can induce madness !! :O

Jim's right, not only do the phenolic injector isolators from a 2.4 CIH Opel bolt right to the 1.9 intake and accept modern O-ring injectors, the fuel rail from that same engine is a direct swap over also. It's a huge upgrade from the stock 1.9 version.

Thanks for the info

The plan is to have several different types

I like the Toyota injectors

The basic part is already in Solidworks and if I can figure out how to merge the two designs together I will be able to set up the items to what ever injector I choose.

Spent 4 hours on Thursday trying to figure it out

My instructor says we should be able to crank out the part on the CNC once it’s done

Some info on angle would be cool

I know I read it somewhere

I wouldn't make too much of it. If you're really looking to boost, say, top end performance, then you'd position the injectors further away from the head anyway, and you'd eliminate the factory phenolic spacers altogether.

Just match the OEM angle and call it a day!

Well I figured out solid works

Was trying to use the merge function which was the wrong way to do it

Took another 4 hours on the program the last 20 min of class I figured it out

I just need to align the two parts properly and save it

I think Nissan and Toyota use the same top feed design type injectors

They won’t let me near the CNC but at least I will have it on my thumb drive

edit: still a lot of work
