Answered: thermostat housing/fuel injection interferance

I've installed a Fuel injection intake manifold onto my 1.9l.
What I've found out is that the thermostat housing can't bolt up, because it's hittng the plates that hold the injectors onto the manifold.

I remember seeing some pics on here once, where somebody had cut out part of the thermostat housing and welded it back together, but I can't find those pics anymore. If you know the pics I'm talking about, please let me know. I've been searching, but can't find them.

Other than doing that, does anybody have any other suggestions?

I've posted some pics of one I modified before. You can go to my Flickr photo site and look at them. Start here and scroll to the right (5 pictures). Click on 'all sizes' above the photos to see the enlarged version.

You could always use the original 1975 Opel dual stage thermostat housing.

Thanks for the fast responses guys!

Gary - I'd seen that pic, and I'm pretty sure that housing won't work for me. It'll be hitting in various other places.

Rallybob - Those are the exact pics I'd seen before. No wonder I couldn't find them here, because they're on a whole other site! That's exactly what I'm planning on doing to mine as well.
