Not to let the thread stray, last night I looked at the cut down manifold and it does not exactly match the one in the picture that was supplied. It appears to me that in order to fit the darn thing in front of the firewall I will have to cut the last runner in half, which obviously I can't do because I will destroy the flow to cyl. #4. It is very frustrating not to have car with the engine in it so that I can really see what I need to do. I might have to wait until I get the body back, but that will slow me down. I don't want to keep chopping on the manifold without knowing if I am doing the right thing.

1991 Senator 3.0E FI

Just nipped outside and took a couple of pics of my 1991 Opel's FI
By the look of it there are a number of "variations on a theme" with the Big Six injection systems. I know my 1986 Monza one is different and so is the 1983 parts car. Must be a continuous change in these units as the years progress.
A LH & RH side pic:

Notice how the rear two runners are "offset" in order to miss the firewall. I was so hung up on the height problem that I did not notice the offset. The center two runners are actually offset slightly in the other direction, toward the rear of the car. That is why it appears like I have to cut into the runner in order to miss the firewall. I might have to reuse the rear two runners that I cut off. I would cut the center two off and then weld the rear two back on where the center two were. I would then have the offset condition restored and also have the lower height of the front runners as well. I may put this part of the project on hold until I get the car back, have not decided yet.

I have been working on this problem for 2 weeks now and according to all the dimensions I have the thing will still not fit under the hood of the GT. I have decided to forge on and leave this until the end . It appears to me from the pictures that have been posted that there must be several different styles of the 3.0 intake. The one I have has sooooo much offset toward the rear of the car that in order to make it fit I would ruin the flow characteristics. I really need my car back from the body shop, and everything installed in it to verify the fit, it's going to be very close and I just don't want to guess at it.

Well, what if the hood were somewhat modified like the engine? Kind of tastefully, respecting the original shape but exaggerating enough to complement the engine mods. Only one in three hundred thousand car enthusiasts would guess that something might be up, and most of them would still think it's some kind of a 'vette where a custom hood is the norm.
A GT enthusiast would want to know right away why...

No Opels were harmed in the filming of this movie.
However two Mustangs, a Pinto, and a Capri were hospitalized.
One Mustang was euthanized the next morning.

Another hairbrained idea...

Could you take a set of duel side draft intakes and mount a set of chokes and a plate to mount a seperate fuel injector into each intake?

Better than that - Weber make fuel injector bodies that bolt on to DSD manifolds just like carbs do - BUT - they cost LOTS of money!!!!

Thanks for all the suggestions, I have not given up, nor will I, I just have to wait for the car so I know what the heck to do. While waiting I still have plenty of other stuff to work on. I do think that my May Carlisle hopes are close to gone though.

Did a little port matching to the cut-down 3.0 intake manifold. As good as it is stock, there was still room for improvement.

Maybe by the end of the year. The car is put away for the winter, and then the owner has to buy the EFI pump, fuel pressure regulator, throttle body, and the EFI computer. And then I have to install it.
