Bob, why don't you set up shop out here in CA? Lots of Opel, Subaru, and
assorted racing work to do out here. ![]() I'm sure you could find a Opel friendly shop to work in.

I probably would stay away from doing cylinder heads to be honest, not enough money from that due to the time involved. I'd stick with the one-off prototype stuff I can actually make a living from. Make a prototype, get paid for my actual time, then have someone else manufacture parts.

Back to the original topic of this thread, anyone got a non-cut 3.0 Manifold they would part with? I actually still need one for my 6 cylinder.... |

Should work
I think that'll work Otto, it's going on a Bitter 3.9L head and that should bolt up. I'll be swapping out the throttle body and injectors with Jeep ones anyway, so I don't need any of those parts, just the bases for the injectors like on the picture

The runners in the 2.8 intake are small like the 2.2 intake, don't know what you are trying to achieve, but just be aware.

yep
But if given the options of not having any intake manifold at all, modifying a single carb 2.8 manifold to fit, or bolting up one with not ideal runners, I'll take bolting on the one with small runners.

Bob, I think you should design a new head. I bet you could do it. Ever play with the Lost Foam aluminum casting process?

No Opels were harmed in the filming of this movie. However two Mustangs, a Pinto, and a Capri were hospitalized. One Mustang was euthanized the next morning. |

I did design an Opel head about 10 years ago, with the intent of making it in aluminum. Non-crossflow still, but using the 'best' of the various CIH port designs and chamber designs at the time. I'm sure if I had to think about it again, I'd do it all different. It was designed with a small chamber, thick deck for nitrous or turbo use, flatter valve angle, taller valves, taller lifter galley for roller lifters, and shaft-style roller rockers. It would've cost a fortune! Bob |

Great news Bob! Glad to hear you went for it - you only live once (but I've found you can go broke several times in life).
![]() So, is this to be a fab shop strictly or are you going to continue Opel work? |

So I'll go back to metal restoration for a local restoration shop 3-4 days a week to make a living, and the new workshop will be for my personal use only, no outside work. But at least I will have a place to work on my race car, the rally car, and my father's GT. Otherwise everything would have to go into semi-permanent storage and I wouldn't be able to work on anything at all. If that is the case I would be better off selling all my cars and tools and just cutting my losses...what good does it do packed into my barn? Bob |
