VW parts
Here is what I have found so far with my poking around in an old VW field. The rabbits had a mechanical fuel injection setup with a throttle body that is a direct bolt up to replace the carb. The throttle body contains an insert because the engines where only like a 1.4 or 1.2 something. any way when you take out the insert, the throttle body flows the exact amount required for a 1.9.
I don't know if there is a way to install a TPS (Ththrottle position sensor) (It could likely be a home made sensor as it really just needs to have an Ohms reading.) or MAP sensor. or if it is possible to even make use of the stock intake manifold. Can someone explain what the purpose is to having the large air Reservoir in fuel injection? Keep in mind that the throttle body is also much smaller than a carb, and can there for take a rather tall spacer under it if it would help. BTW there was an audi there that had a turbo 1.9 engine, and the throttle body was identical but the insert was not there. My thoughts as far as the injectors is that a hole can be drilled in the intake manifold at an angle that puts the end of the injectors just into the head pointing at the valves.

When I see stuff like this that I could use on my big block Dodge, it kills me to see how expensive similar Weber stuff is.

Would these fit just the stock 1.9 manifolds?

As far as I know, no person has been singled out as being 'in charge' of the group buy. And the holidays were indeed partially responsible for the delays. I think the buy-in needs to be timed so that every one is solvent at the same time (easier said than done!). I have a project that needs a Megasquirt soon, so I may just say the heck with it and spend the extra 20 bucks and circumvent a group buy-in.

The whole point of EFI is to avoid moving a "wet" mass around all the bends and curves of the intake! "Move only air and add fuel mix at valve (or now, direct into the combustion chamber)" is what FI is all about. Everything else is just another form of carb. If you do want to use the "stock" intake, modified or not, a far better, less expensive option would be tuned Weber 38DGES! You're not going to improve anything here using the TBI approach. Best bang for the buck, IMO!
