Unanswered: Fuel pump bad?

I recently rebuilt my motor and put it back into the car, After doing all the wiring and connecting everything up put in the key, sprayed some starter fluid and turned it over. It ran for a few seconds then died. I did it a few more times then disconnected the fuel lines past the pump only to find them bone dry... Help! Is this a bad fuel pump? i didnt have this problem before the rebuild...

If the car hasn't been run in awhile it may take some time for the fuel pump to pull gas up to the carburetor.Make sure the fuel filters are clean and there is gas in the tank.
