Unanswered: Mystery line

Are there two transmission vacuum lines? On the passenger side I've already hooked up the tiny metal line to the vacuum tree. But on the driver's side there is a piece that comes out the side of the tranny back at the tail piece. The metal tube is curved and runs up and around the front of the engine at the top. But it isn't connected to anything. Just an open metal tube. Is it a vent?

The metal piece that is routed in front of the valve cover is the original fuel line. It sounds like someone replaced the line and didn't remove the original.

Mystery line

If it is a vacuum line and runs around from the manifold vacuum tree in from of the head it is the vacuum for the distributor.

If it's shaped like this, it's fuel.

It was indeed the fuel line. I mixed that and the line that runs up to the speedometer. An electric fuel pump was installed prior to my buying it, so that explains it. Sorry for the confusion.
