Sorry my error, that's not the fuel pump that's the float that tells you how much fuel is in the tank.

whew, I thought that maybe that was something else different on my early edition 70 from the later ones. Years ago when my family got the car from friends, the car's mechanicl fuel pump was broken so we bypassed it and installed an electric inline pump at the tank temporarily just to get it running and removed it when I put in a new mechanical pump. Still have the old electric pump someplace.
I'm pretty sure it's something different than a 14mm. It is tapered and the large end is around .480 in, which is around 12mm or so. I'm wondering if it is a special thread that Opel came up with. Wouldn't be the first time I saw somebody do something like that.

I also whent thru the prosess of cleaning a gas tank full of rust.Removed tank, cut out the old sock, took both radiator and gas tank to my local radiator shop and had both boild out in their tank and then went thru the prosess of lineing the tank with the Eastwood gas tank sealer and restoration kit.part #10165z Its on sale for $49.99 was a very easy prosess to do,had to run down to Ace hardware and get a gallon of muriatic acid and some acetone, but in the end for under $70.00 fuel now comes out clean and clear.
The search feature on this site contains so much knowledge about our cars,But so much info their it creats more questions.Nobody should be belittled or talked down to for asking questions...
