As for the gas tank, just put an ad in the classified section and see what happens. Hint: you can use a gas tank from any year GT 69-73.

All of the tanks on the GT are the same with the exception of a drain bung on the passenger side. The difference is not really noticeable but the location varies 1/2".

I found this out during the restoration of a 1970 GT using a 1973 tank. Not a biggie but thought inquiring minds like to know.

I've never spotted this on any of my tanks. I have noticed that the 1973 tank has an extra nipple on the left rear for the fuel return line that was used to combat vapor lock.

yup noticed that on my 72 also so probable all models that came with vapor canister have the extra hook up on them

Nope, just the '73 GT GT with the vapour-vent on the fuel filter and the return line to the tank had the extra connection described. But AFAIK, all the early GT's had two vapour vent connections on the tank and another one on the filler hose, as per the diagram authored by Charles Goin and published in the OMC Blitz as attached to this post:
