Unanswered: Carbon Canister

I'm finally getting my 73 GT all assembled I have one nagging question.

Where is the carbon canister physically mounted in the engine compartment. I have searched every manual I have every copy of the Blitz, Posts here, as well as photos of other cars here in the gallery. Since it was already removed when I got the car I have no clue where to mount it.

WAY far forward. It's in front of the radiator and battery, centered on the lower crossmember if memory serves.

Can I move the canister anywhere toward's the back of my GT so I don't have to run the vent line ALL the way forward. I plan on not connecting my Webber to the canister.

In order for the cannister to work correctly, it needs to be hooked up to a vacuum source so the fumes will pulled from the cannister and into the engine. So you'll either have to run the vent line from the tank to the cannister, or a vacuum line back to the cannister.

Important ...

The Evaporative Fume Canister is a VERY important part of the fuel tank venting system. That is where all the vent lines from the tank are connected to prevent fuel vapour polluting the atmosphere and to allow air back into the tank so the fuel can be pushed out to the fuel pump. The pump does not 'suck' fuel out - the air pressure on top of the fuel pushes it forward to the pump !!
The vacuum line to the motor connects to the intake manifold via a fitting below the carb, with a tiny metering orifice in it - a Weber makes no difference to this circuit.
If the venting system is not connected up and working correctly that is why there are so many fuel supply problems ....... Vacuum 101 ..
