Wow that is awesome. I am thinking it would be rusty.. not pristine. There is a lot of moisture underground, and 50 years of it..hmmm who knows. That would be sweet to watch them dig it up! Once in a lifetime thing!
Check out this link. No it is not an Opel, but interesting indeed

HA! They also buried 10 gals. of gas and 5 qts. of oil with the car. I wonder if they thought we might not have any around after 50 years. Even if we didn't have any, that 50 year old gas isn't going to get that car run. Jerry
A pack of cigs and a case of beer? Boy, the world sure has changed! I would think the car probly should be in decent shape.....unless the vault filled with water over the years. But the beer might just taste a bit nasty!

What ...we got here...is........failure......................... to communicate....
Some men,you just cant reach...so you get what we had here last week...which is the way he wants it.
Well, he gets it...I dont like it, any more than you men...
Ha, beer doesn't have to be 50 years old to go bad. I paid $13 for an unopened can of "billy" (carter) and let me tell you...that went south alot sooner than 50 years.

Maybe that's why they buried the stuff, to lower the crime rate in Tulsa. But, I propose another therory as to why they would bury all this stuff and then dig it up at a great cost when the city knew what was down there anyway. So, I took another look at the list of items and saw that they had also buried an unpaid parking ticket. That ticket has accrued so many penalties by now that they needed to impound the car. Jerry
This plymouth was a contest. People submitted what they thought would be the population of Tulsa 50 years later in 2007 and the person closest to the actual population would win the car. Trouble is they have lost all the records of the contest. Dont know what they will do now.
TMK
so when in this year of "2007" ARE they going to open it????????

Since it was buried on the 50th anniversary of Tulsa, I would put money on the date of the 100th anniversary.![]()

The optimium shelf life of most beer is 12 months. The shelf life of carbonated soda is about six months. Those are ideal conditions by the way. I'd say that Schlitz was bad about a week later.
But then again, when you're out of Schlitz, you're out of beer. So the saying goes.![]()

Funny you should mention Billy Beer. I was 18 when that happened, living in a little hick cow town called Miles City, Montana, it was such a big deal, advertised repeatedly that the Bison Bar had Billy Beer. Well thank goodness eighteen was drinking age then... yup I went straight to the Bison after work and got a six pack. It was the only way you could buy one, the whole six pack. Popped one open, had a good draw, and spit it on the floor, much to the amusement of everyone who saw and had done (or almost done) exactly the same thing.
Guess what? I was home (Miles City) last summer to help bury Grandpa, and hanging from a nail in the barn was five Billy Beers on the plastic six pack holder (remember them?). I just laughed. And left them there. Now clearly remember putting them there almost thirty years ago when dunging out the Chevelle SS.

Too bad it become a 50 year soak. They should have put the thing on blocks several feet off the floor of the vault AND had some drainage system, that or had an above ground vault. 10:1 that thing is junk from the midline down, if there IS even anything from the midline down!

Wow, I don't know how they will "spruce" it up in a week. But, Boyd and his crew have one week to do it and a lot of resources. The article didn't mention who the lucky winner of the 50 year old rust bucket was.
