gene it normally cheaper to replace a lap top than repair one
the parts cost sooooooo much more than PC parts
+ they are redundant for parts much faster than a PC
This is not Opel related, but, I know we have some real honest to goodness Geeks in this community. I have an old Dell laptop that I would like fixed, just so I can have a pc I can use with wi-fi around the house and on trips. If interested, I could send you the laptop to see what's wrong with it. Please PM me.![]()

Actually laptop parts are very common on Ebay now. New keyboard and motherboard with more ram and higher speed processor was only 100 bucks for this gateway. I just fixed a Dell for a customer to use as an interface laptop with his machines for under 50 bucks. I actually prefer a laptop to the larger ones.
Maybe if you could post up a description of what is wrong with the computer someone can walk you through fixing it. That'd save you the postage.
From my own experience the most common computer issues are user error and software issues, which are easy to walk someone through over the net or phone. If it is a hardware failure it may just be better to replace the entire laptop considering how cheap it is these days to get a new one.
A good cure-all for computers is to format the drive and install the OS from scratch. When that fails then you probably have a hardware problem. If you've formatted a drive before then it will take about half a day to do the process. If you're new, I suggest that you watch someone do it and explain it because it can be as vital knowledge as changing the oil on a car.
