Interesting Opels

I keep seeing so many great cars that maybe I should just start-up a thread for cars not in the South. Wouldn't be all of the cars that I see, just the great buys, great condition, or rare parts. The South thread is more comprehensive and really to help people in the region.

59 Rekord in SF Bay, CA
$1000 for project, looks pretty complete, could be a great car to resto
Contact 707-526-7262

73-4 Manta in Spokane, WA
$200 for wreck, probubly worth it for a few parts like engine and trans, you be suprised what may still be good
Contact (509)397-2034

Kadett Parts in New Haven, CT
"68/69 opel kaddett parts twin one barrel carbs with manifold and air filters, power booster and M/C, roof rack, sterring rack, vent window assb "

72 GT in Kansas City, KS
$300 for body+
Contact 618-974-0457

70 GT in Pueblo, CO
$4500 for "95% restored", looks like a good head start at any rate
Contact 719-320-2464

74 Manta in Witchita, KS

Very interesting drag car. You see A LOT of GTs, this is just plain strange.

You should look for the GT with the WWII fighter plane Allison engine in it. Maybe 1,100 or 1,200 h.p? They were used in early Mustangs, Lightnings and Warhawks. These planes were usually supercharged. It was on Ebay a few years ago, And people can't fit a V-6 into these things! Actually this is a HUGE V12 and the car was stretched and it was a mid-engine. I wouldn't really want that thing suddenly wanting to be in the drivers seat with me in an accident. An accident caused, no doubt, while showing off my 1,200 h.p. engine swap. But really, who could blame me?

Our WWII aircraft also had "W.E.P." or "War Emergency Power". When in a bad situation or when acceleration was really needed you could push the throttle through a wire stop on the throttle quadrant. At that point you would have water injection and have greatly increased horsepower. You could only run so long like this before your engine would be destroyed. But for taking off from a traffic light it could come in handy.

I also used to see a white GT near Rockford Illinois in 1984 or 85 that seemed to be up on truck tires like "Bigfoot". Interesting and funny.

Yes, it was similar to that but a white GT. This links to another thread with a red GT on big tires. That looks like a really good GT body but with a Blazer or Bronco frame under it. Rompin' Stompin' fun I guess.

We're so used to sit low in a GT, it would be very interesting to sit that high in one.

Here is the full text:

This car does not need to be smogged so put a turbo charged, fuel injected high performance, engine in it.Overall this car is in good cond. It has new tires on aluminum rims, reapolstered seats, new radio with mp3 player. The car also comes with a complete extra gauge console assembly and a rip free dash board. However this car does not have a engine or transmission. I am asking $2000.

Did anyone catch this on e-bay?? Its supposed to be an early split bumper 69??????? I cant tell from the pics if the license plate panel is flat or any other distinguishing marks of an ever elusive 68 GT. But maybe someone out there with a bit more knowledge can tell for sure???
