Dudes!!!
Cheers, the more pictures the better. It's always good to do some research BEFORE one makes mistakes taht some other people obviously have done! I have to say that only the red one looks any good, but that's because it looks like a Vette and then one might as well buy a Vette! Talking of which (converting a car into a Vette), here is an advert currently running in Sweden. It will disappear when the owner sells the car (yea right!) or when the advert is 2 months old. I have uploaded the image in the Fun Gallery but it's pending approval I think... SAAB-Corvette ![]() It's a Saab with a homemade Corvette body... ![]() Keep the Opel GT headlight pictures coming!!! (please)

![]() The problem with this in Sweden is that for the yearly test (cars onlder than 30 years bi-anually) is that I doubt they'd approve headlights located UNDER the bumper, though I'll check. No, my wishes is actually to fit racing style lights under plastic, like the old Ferraris, but where the lights are designed to be ![]() I am actually trying to get AWAY from the Corvette image and closer to the 60's Le Mans style cars. Are there any other cars (like the Opel GT) with the "eyes" on the top (like the stingray), as opposed to on the fenders, like the Ferrari 250 LM (pictured above)???

well Laurence meet one guy from england who likes the gt headlights
ok i admit i never ran my gt with stock lights for more than 2 weeks VW H4's from a golf mk2 are sooooooooooooooo much brighter and i used to run cibie H4's under the bumper to keep top end speed (its shocking how much they slow with the frog eyes up )but if you want a covered look best to ask the test centre if its ok for them while asking about the below bumper lights , im guessing you will have problems getting them approved if they are deep set because you will not get the light pattern on the ground and side viz will be almost gone so the health and safety bods will poo poo it unless you get something very small (100 -125 mm ) and have them well forward in the bins or even with a smaller hump like the FIAT coupe used to have other cars to look @ that i can think of are jag E-type Series1 after the Series 1 1/2 they do not have covers a bunch of Ferraris from that era and so on but unless you want to respray the car you are looking at the 2 holes you have and some poly carbonate sheet easy thinking really or make new plates to carry smaller lights and a cover and fit them in place of the frogs Last edited by baz; 08-25-2008 at 09:20 PM.. |

Hi guys!
You know, the world is a very small place sometimes. And yes, we do live a stonethrow from each other. Summer is fading fast here, and the winter GT projects are piling up in the back of my head. I'm thinking of getting a thinner plexi for the headlights, you know the type used on older jaguars etc. I like the old look. I don't really care for old cars with modern body additions, like the projector lights on that GT in the above post. I like to have a car that looks like it could have been made in the sixties. Now that I think about it, I've come up with a new project related to the headlights.
I'm going to make (if I can find the right material) stainless steel surrounds for my headlights just like that Ferrari on the previous page. I've felt that I want some more detailing that is accurate for the era, and I think they would finish off my lights nicely. Off to find stainless steel sheet cheap then! |

LeftLaneGuy is a member here but doesn't post much (well, not so much as before he had a meltdown back in 2006 when he was about to be censored by a couple of Moderators). But he last posted on July 7 2008, and seems to lurk on the Forums, so you might try PM'ing him to see if he is still in the business of making the headlight kits

I always enjoy seeing custom body work, and clever ways to come up with a unique looking car.
I don't want to discourage you, but, your car's headlights won't do anything cool!? The Opel GT is the only production car with head lights rotating around a front and rear pivot! Maybe the only car ever!???? That's about as unique/custom as it get's. At Florida custom auto shows, I could sell tickets for the amount of interest in the GT's rotating headlights. Just my 2 cents.
