How about that, an almost Willit? clone.

3.4 GT on ebay
My question is how did he shoehorn it in the engine compartment without the major chop, cut & rebuild and the hood modification that you made doing the swap. Maybe we just need to see more pictures of the engine compartment and the interior.

Very Little cutting
From what I see, there was minor boxing of the lower driver's side foot well. They are even re-using the original hod locks so that side was not modified too much.
Depending on how the engine is set in place is how much you need to cut. I have been approached by many to install a V-6 on Stealth and show the step by step process but I want to keep this vehicle stock. I will say this, if after driving the car it turns out the engine is not to my liking, then I will install either an Ecotec or a 3.4L on the vehicle. I do have several engines available and also a Tremec 6-speed which I would really be happy with. |

JB, just out of curiosity, do you think a replacement engine could handle a 6-speed with two overdrive gears? Even with the torque I have in Willit? I need to down shift at freeway speeds to accelerate rapidly. I'm thinking a dual overdrive unit would lug down the engine a bit. On the other hand, I'm seriously thinking about a T-56 in the monza, hooked up to the roller cam, 4-bolt main 350 sitting in the garage in pieces. We're guesstimating about 390 HP from it. |

You can get a Tremec 6-sp mated to a Ford V-6 which is about 220HP. But in any event, I would probably live between 3rd and 4th gear most of the time. Tremec does provide you with a greater ratio curve between the gears so it is like having a set of halve ratio gears and an overdrive. Anyway, it is just something I am mindly toying with. |

JB, Thanx for the info. I'll check it out. Now that we've kinda sorta hi-jacked this thread, I'm gonna build an FI engine in the monza, which means all the fun and games I had with Willit? doing the same. I still have to keep all the smog stuff on it, CA CARB rules, which means I'll have to keep the $107 water pump so I can bolt in the smog pump, instead of the standard $30 water pump. And probably go with another Sanden AC pump to replace the piston R-12 one that's there. Back in 75, this was just a monza with a Corvette engine in it, so I figured to just upgrade it to newer specs.

I'm gonna guess the reserve is close to 5 figures, but JB "blancojp" could probably give a berter guesstimate, he's done a bunch of engine swaps.
