Guess that explains why it takes so long to get a head back from the shop.

That is budget building at its best

the only thing missing is the shade tree. I love the part about stapling the sand paper to the block and running the head back and forth across then

I guess that is how you get the cross hatch pattern on the head surface.

O_o this kind of reminds me of how they used to hand finish babbitt bearings.

For their next trick you'll see someone "flycutting" their head with a hand tool!

I cut my teeth on scraping poured babbitt bearings! An old flathead six-cylinder Hudson 'Terraplane' motor we raced in a Midget on dirt tracks.

Did the block top and head surface with a real 'block file' though!
