Panoramic Rearview Mirror !

My roomate found this mirror at a bargain store and brought it home for me to use on my GT's rearview mirror. A 12 inch wide mirror that clips over your existing original mirror with NO alteration or tools required. I put this on my mirror and was ASTONISHED by how much more visibility I instantly achieved!! Everyone who's driven an Opel GT can understand the importance, especially when changing lanes!

Here's the link to buy one from one of the websites, or you can just search for Jobar International INC Panoramic Rearview Mirror. I found it for $8.95.

Good luck and happy SAFER Opeling!

It improves visibility but being much wider than standard mirror, it obstructs sunvisors when you try to fold them down.

I've used one in my pickup trucks for years. They are a lil ugly, but they really help in seeing what is coming up behind you and eliminating blind spots. I don't have one in my GT, but I would imagine they'd be great in LA... you could see all 6 lanes behind you!

There is a shorter version of this mirror, I have both styles. The shorter one is in my GT and the longer ones, I have in mine and my wife's Sportwagon, really helps in traffic. These are also available from J C Whitney, I have been using them for years.

I started using one in the Targa and it adds a real level of comfort especially with all the "aggressive" drivers that weave in and out passing on both sides .. I really don't want to get into a fender bender ever but am extra cautious when in the Targa.

there is a wider version also it is mounted in my 72 from a PO it has several mirrors incorporated in it at different angles and it goes across the entire front of head liner screws into brackets on both ends. I'm presently getting this car ready for the road so I cannot say if it is good or bad just sitting in it in driveway it looks to be a good deal.

If everything seems to be going well you have obviously overlooked something.

This was a popular racing type mirror from a company called "WINK" (it's true!), and even WINK had a smaller version. Haven't seen any around here of late.

Wink still exists. They (used to?) make two lengths of dedicated-mount mirrors, and another shorter one that is designed to clip over your OEM rear view mirror.
Wink 5 Panel Panoramic View Mirror

I prefer the Longacre convex mirror, the Wink always tends to have overlapping areas of vision that make you think you have more cars behind you than you actually do!

I think the Wink mirror went out with Vaurnet sunglasses, the Miami Vice suit, Lipstick Rock Bands, and all things excessively 1980's. I went to Kragen the other night and found another brand of clip on panoramic mirror. It may look a bit awkward decoratively, but it adds a lot of vision. The greatest thing is it's not a permanent add on, I can slip it off my rear view mirror in seconds without any tools.

That's done for a reason.... It's to make you push the car harder to keep from getting overtaken!!
