Hurricane Ike
Ike roared through our area and reeked havoc and destruction. Like a raging beast, it ravaged most things in it's path. We were fortunate, in that in a matter of a few hours, the storm's speed increased, and the track pushed a few miles to the east of us. Extremely strong winds ripped trees out of the ground, and toppled even more. Our fence was demolished, a couple of windows broken, gutters torn from the roof. We had a turbine vent on our roof that spun so fast, that it exploded in a twisted array of blades and framework. It was a tense few hours as the storm marched through. On the back side, we lost power for seven days. Others, still have no power. I just got the internet today, so I'm posting my account of the experience. There are soooo many that lost much more than we. The GT was parked outside. with two tarps and a car cover strapped to it. All of our cars were left unscathed.
Anyway, thank you Sawdust, for checking up on us. Ciara was calling me the morning after, and offered support. Thanks Lyndon. I hope nobody ever has to go through one of these things. Wes |

Wes, good to hear you guys are ok. Sounds like it was pretty scary. I can't imagine the sound that turbine would make as it spun itself to terminal velocity! Now the clean-up begins. If you would like a change of scenery, try to make it to the meet on Oct. 4th in Wichita Falls. I can imagine that probably won't happen as there is lots of clean up to do.
If I can help from Austin, just let me know. |
