Well, there are actually quite a bit different between the Manta and GT. They have different styling, although with some similar themes in the rear roofline and tail panel areas. The Manta is larger, with 4 exposed headlights to the GT's hidden, rotating headlights. The Manta seats 4, where the GT is a 2 seater. The Manta has a generous trunk with lid while the GT has storage accessed behind the seats. The GT uses the Kadett suspension, which is different from the Manta. The interiors are pretty much different. About the only major things they share are the engine and transmission (although the trans shifters are located in different spots. Check out the pictures in the photo section and you'll be able to spot the differences. I've posted a pic here with my orange with blue stripes '75 Manta and John G's '69 red GT. Hope that helps.

Thanks, my wife is German and when I told her that I bought a GT she had no clue what I was talking about. When the car was delivered she said,"Why didn't you tell me it was a Manta." My mother in-law is visiting from germany and she said yeah it is a Manta. At least that is what they call them in Germany. And according to them it is as famous in germany as the VW Bug. Heck I didn't even know what a Manta was. Thanks for clearing this up.

When someone asks which Opel I have and I tell them "Manta", they often answer with something about the baby Corvette and I have to explain it. I think "Manta" is a catchier name than "GT" and that is what causes people to associate it with Opel's halo car of the past.
