No longer w/o an Opel

I am no longer an Opeler W/O an Opel!!

I got a 74 Manta Lexus in decent shape for $450. And the photos should be up soon. I have to get it running but, with the help of this site and all the great people here that shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks to yellaopelgt (Joe) and Opelmn70 (Gerry) for their help in looking at this car and getting it.

I also want to thank everyone here for the info I got from this site and the people here. I know I can count on everyone for their help!!

Dean

Don't quite know about the next meet but, i do want to try to get her running. I guess when it is running there is a rod knock so, i might end up swaping out for another engine and try to rebuild this one. I got to get it running first.

Very Nice Car. I had one exactly like that back in the early '80s. The frame was going on mine.

One note, you should have matching carpet in the trunk on the Luxus. See if anyone here has some from a former Luxus.

Congrats again.

Hey Dean,
Nice Manta! Glad it worked out for you, and that Joe & Gerry were around to help. Sorry I wasn't around this weekend, but it looks like you have a solid Manta with a great color combo and that posh Luxus interior. If you find yourself needing parts, let me know...I may have something that could work for you. Otherwise, Gerry still has some Manta/Ascona parts he would most likely part with now that he's GT/Kadett at this point. Congrats, and enjoy!

Jeff,

Thanks, I am happy to have this one. I do have a couple questions. What is this thing in the picture. And, do you know where I might find the head rests for my seats? They are missing.

The pictured item can either be something for the stereo, or a performance item, but, without knowing where the wires go to, it's hard to tell. Does the PO know? Try calling him/her
As for the head rests, if you're not picky about the color, I have a set of tan ones or black ones you can have.

Thanks for the offer of the head rests. I might take you up on it.

As for the electronic gizmo, the PO is of no help... he is mad at me. Long story short, just rent a U-HAUL tow dolly!! The radio is just an AM radio.

Thanks

I sort of glanced at that thing when I went to go look at the car. If I'm not mistaken its an FM converter for the radio......everything else on the car looked to be bone stock so dont think its any sort of "performace" doo-hicky.

If it is a CD ignition, what is it doing under the steering wheel? I cant imagine putting it there! I agree it looks like one, but??

It actually performs better then the pertronix. it takes the current away from the points like the pertronix and increases the wave shape of the spark. If you are going to remove it an go with pertronix Email me as I would like a spare for the tw0 vehicals I run these in.

as for why its mounted inside the car? well it is better to keep it from cooking in the engine compartment but I have never had any issues as long as they had air flo with mounting them on a fenderwell opposit the exaust.
