Sad News

I met Dallas in Carlisle 06 and found him to be a real friendly person. He had his car parked in the pavilion and was telling me and my friend all about his Opel restoration. It is sad to hear such news. My condolences to his family and friends.

I just received this note from Dallas' niece:

--------------------------------
I am Dallas Mize's niece and I wanted to tell you all thank you for your thoughts and prayers. We are still not sure exactly what happened. And it hurts us all very much, however I know he is no longer in pain from his back injury and he is getting to hold his middle child for the first time in 10 years.

I didn't understand why he had to leave so soon, and still don't completely, but I do know that many people loved Dallas for many reasons. I love him and lot and miss him also, but I wanted to say thank you to everyone who knew him, (well at least knew of him.) He was always telling the family stories of his opel and others who had Opels also (I'm taking it this must be you guys right? He he) Anyway to clarify, no one knows what happened yet, and if you haven't you can go to his website Dallas Mize and go to his guestbook and sign it. The family reads all of the stories and its so nice to know how Dallas has touch so many (if even from just a smile.)

Thank you again for all your thoughts and prayers and may God bless you all. Continue working on your Opels and if you get the chance think of him while your doing it at least once so he can still be a part of the restoration here because I know he loved it!!!! Susian Mize

Although this is old news for you all here. But this is the first I have heard of it.. I just can't believe it.

My best memory of Dallas was when he let me drive his GT at the National meet at the Route 66 show two years ago. What a great guy and car.

I am at a loss for words.. He will be missed.. My condolenses to his family.

Although this may be a touchy subject for some, after visiting Dallas's website and reading his biography over a year ago, I still wonder to this day if a conclusion has been made about his death? It's so sad that someone so young had to pass. RIP Man. Hope Opeling up there is just as fun as is it down here for all your fellow friends!
