The other day, I saw a 1967 Opel Commodore in Brookfield CT. I can pass along more info if anyone is interested. This car is from Germany. There is a dealer sticker on the back, from Germany, and I also saw the original service book (in German), with tear-out sheets for each 5000 km service interval.
The car is a 4 door sedan, and really rare, I would think - it has an automatic transmission, 2 speed Powerglide. The car was red with a black vinyl top, and in remarkable shape for its age. I sure wish I had a garage to keep it in and work on it, but I don't.

I noticed a unrestored green Manta parked in someone's driveway here in El Segundo, CA. Anybody from here?

a couple years back i spotted a nice black GT in Victoria, BC. When I moved to Cottage Grove, OR I was excited to see a cute little powder blue manta at Knechts... turns out he's the manager, and thats his daily driver! Good town He also owns a GT, plus my 2 GTs that makes 4 Opels that I know of in my little town.

Spotted a pale yellow GT Thursday, Dec 27th, early afternoon on my way to Las Vegas.

GT was traveling west on 58 along the Tehachapi Mountains, or southwest on Interstate 15 between Barstow & Las Vegas.

This belong to anyone here on this forem.

I've driven mine on Pleasant Hill a few times near Gwinnett Mall but not very often as I tend to stay close to home in the Lawrenceville area. Maybe it was me? .

I heard of a one that was red/orange with gold wheels in our area, but never seen it myself.

My Aunt Kitty has said that she's seen your GT, Matt.

With as much as I drive through the Snellville, Lawrenceville, Swanee, and Buford area, I'm suprised that I haven't pulled up next to you yet.

Cool - tell her to wave next time!

I can't believe I haven't seen you on the road either (or any other Opel for that matter). It is really weird because I definitely am on the lookout for Opels. I've posted this before, but, to date (not counting Opel meets of course), I've only seen one GT on the road since I bought mine in 1986 and that was at the Gwinnett Mall sometime in the early '90s (probably around 1992 or so). I think we established in another thread that the driver of that GT (who directed me to Rockdale Imports for my high compression piston upgrade) is known to the Opel community but is not active on this forum.

Matt;
You just don't drive around where I do. I don't go around the various malls in GA, unless I have to. But, during morning and afternoon traffic commute on the upper side of I-285 (between I-75 and I-85) you might see my wife in her green 74 Sportwagon. We live in Snellville, but, she works next to the Galleria Mall. But, mostly you'll find us Opeling in and around the Snellville, Lilburn, Tucker, areas.

Oh, btw, it wouldn't have been me around Pleasant Hill, I don't go there unless I have to. And I probubly wouldn't drive my GT if I had too. Primetime for an accident.

Same here generally - the Opel isn't allowed in and around malls (that's what the Olds is for). However, I have passed by Gwinnett Mall and Mall of Georgia on my way somewhere else...

It has never been registered. They told me it is the only GT in the world never sold publicly, except for one in ???? mueseum.

While the interior & paint look brand new, I found it interesting that metal parts in the engine compartment (thermostat housing, generator casing, carborator, valve cover, had the faded gray weathered look. But hey, the aircleaner duct was new, shiney, and without tears.

I'm posting pics here. Also, the black GT had roughly 100,000 miles on it before the dealership bought it and restored it in the dealership service department.
I am not sure how to post on this site but I will try.
It is a beautiful GT but why do they have Manta Tailights in it???

The Opel factory put them there in the 1973 Models - the theory is that they ran out of GT ones but had plenty of Manta ones still in production.

Manta??

I have seen many times either a faded yellow or mustard color Manta that always turns on Kellog Creek road. The driver looked like an older woman but she hauled big time after the curve.

Also seen several GT's on US41 while out for a drive on my '72. A brown one pulled next to me on Canton road and wanted to race. The young guy quickly realized he was short a few (hundred) horses.

While visiting Summit Racing a few days ago, I met a guy that had an Opel Isuzu 2-door with a Chevy 283/TH350 which was impecable. I have never seen such a level of detail in a non-hotrod type vehicle before which led me to offer the man a job at EDC.

I am actually amazed at all of the clasic vehicles that travel GA streets daily.

at approx 2:43 a Kadett wagon is sideswiped. I couldn't tell if the car which gets it's door ripped off is an Opel which appears later in the movie 5:02

Just a little trivia about the scene where the door gets ripped off. First and foremost, it was NOT scripted!! It was a pure accident that got left in the film. What happened was, the scene was shot EARLY in the morning in order to block off the street from traffic and not upset when regular traffic would be running. The guy who owned the Kadett had been out bar hopping and came back home too drunk to go into his home. So he decided to sleep it off in the car. Well, when the film crew arrived and set-up, they didn't know he was there. He woke up when the stunt cars came by, and opened the door at the wrong/right moment? They decided that it looked good enough to leave in the final cut.

I was on my way south to see my brother last week and spotted a opel GT. It was on the east side of hiway 65 in southeast Arkansas in the little town of Reed. I don't need another one so I didn't stop to inquire. The front end looked a little high so it might not have a motor but, the body didn't appear to have major rust. I'm just posting it here if anybody is in the vicinity might be interested.
