    Interesting Kadett on Craigslist

10192 - 1968 OPEL KADETT L STREET CAR DRIVES ANYWHERE

It says it's a street car but it looks like a racing setup to me. Interesting none the less.

The cup holder is a nice touch....
    "No, it's not fiberglass."
"No, the motor is not in the back."
"No, your friend in high school did not 'peg' his speedometer."

I think that's what makes it a street car.

Normally this wouldn't be my thing, but this car is pretty cool. They actually did a good job on the interior part, for a race car. Scared to see the engine bay, but different, and cool at the same time. I am starting to like the funny car look on certain things. Too bad its a dealer, they have that mark-up

Straight axle front axle is sort of odd, still a transverse leaf though.

Engine is set way back too. Might be fun to drive.
Lots of Opels, for a long time.

    Oddball Kadett

I bet you have to start driving that bad boy the instant the engine fires and slow waaaay down if you are going to make a turn, strictly a straight line ride. The car is for certain an "old school" ride and more than likely was built a long time ago. If it was built for a gasser (my guess, it was) they could have a 10% engine set back (10% of the wheelbase) where an Altered could have 25%.

This car keeps haunting me. When I went to Medford, Oregon to pick up my Ascona the gal I bought it from said there was a Opel for sale at one of the used car dealers a few blocks away. I saw it as I was going to U-haul to pick up the car trailer. Then a guy where I work came back from a trip and was telling me about a Opel he saw in Oregon. I asked if it was yellow and in Medford, Oregon and he said yes. Last week I was surfing Craigslist and it popped up and now here. The guy I worked with actually stopped to look at it and he said it had a Chevy motor in it and the steering linkage was really strange. George.
