Here's the craigslist ad:

I have 8 or more of these fine cars, 3 or 4 of they can be restored to perfection. I can't take less than 500.00 a piece for them. If interested please email karensmith15"at"bellsouth.net or call 828-432-7849 if you want to come and see them. Thanks.

I assume they sent the pictures of the best cars. Did the Kadett B come with 1.1L engines?

The glass and bumpers look pretty good.

In 1966 and 67 there was only the 1.1 liter engine available, but it came in two variations. There was a "Deluxe" model which came with disc brakes in front. This had a higher compression engine and a bit more HP. That is what I specified on my new 1966 Kadett four-door which I bought to replace the '61 Rekord which had been badly damaged by a tornado on June 6, 1966. Some dates you just don't ever forget! And I should have mentioned that $500 is WAY too much for cars which have been sitting out for what appears to have been a long, long time. Bill

For a Kadett in the shown condition: not more than 100 $. And I assume the pics show the better ones...
I have a '69 1.9 Rallye that will eventually go away for free, but right now I still need it as a 1:1 scale manual as long as I'm working on the Röhrl Rallye... like a few more years

Those aren't even an hour and a half from me, and I love Kadetts, and I'm not even going to look based on those pictures. Maybe $500 for all of them?

Kadetts in the woods

If you go look at them, be sure to wear your snake boots and take your chainsaw in case you find something you want and reach an agreed price with the owner. Also if you have one, a four wheel drive four-wheeler to haul the stuff out of the woods after you have cleared out around them. Lot of work for a few parts, and you will have to be a real Kadett lover to get involved with that operation to begin with

Under half an hour from where I grew up...I'd love to know exactly where they are, just out of curiosity.

It might be right beside his driveway in Morganton. I see the roof of a modern car or truck in the second picture above the roof of the white car.

Actually, it appears that I did forget the date! The tornado was June 8, 1966. June 6 was my wedding anniversary. Seems that I can no longer keep my disasters straight! Bill
