Lightbulb The Decal Project

It is time to introduce you all to "The Decal Project"....
But first a bit of background info: I have been collecting Opel decals for a long time (let's be honest, I collect just about anything with Opel on it).
Over the years I have been fortunate enough to acquire some nice original Opel decals, however I have been wary to use them as they are pretty much one-offs by now.
Anyway, I thought if I could find a way to get decals reproduced to as high a standard as possible in small batches, it would be a way to make them available and useable again to all of us.
So I have gone ahead and had the first 4 decals produced. These have been done in a professional shop using the highest quality vinyl etc, and I am delighted with the results.
There is about 100 copies of each design available. I will add seperate posts on here detailing the size and price of each one.
The important thing to note about this project, money generated from these first decals will be ploughed back into reproducing more rare designs, so in the longer term, we will have a good selection of high quality Opel decals available to us.
As the project matures, a percentage of revenue generated will go to Gary for the site, this is not intended as a profit making venture.
The pic below is a teaser for the first four designs which are available:

You know I want some.

Robbie, I still have all three sizes (NOS) of the factory '('blitz')SPORT' decals from the late 70's-early-80's. If you don't have them already, I'd love to get copies made.

Hey Bob,
I figured you'd like the DOT decals!!....
As this project moves along, it will provide the means for us to get other decals reproduced, and I'd be happy to do the blitz sport decals for you.
This is a slow moving thing at the moment as we get started, it's a learning curve and also there are financial restrictions, but as it build up, hopefully the pace will increase.
There are 2 more decals in the works at the moment, not based on NOS designs like the first 4, but good enough that I felt they were worth doing.
Hopefully this will be a successful little venture...
Cheers, Rob.

How to pay for them

First up, the pricing does NOT include P&P, that will be calculated on each order, but will be kept to a minimum...I'll have to ge to Office Depot to price out reinforced envelopes for the bigger ones, the small ones should be OK in regular envelopes with a bit of cardboard.
Getting payment to me...we are not talking large $ amounts here (unless you want to cover the whole car to save on a repaint), so cheques are OK...but bounce one on me and I'll name you on here!!
If paypal is preferred, I can accept payment via: redline_robbie(at)yahoo(dot)ca
Note it is dot ca, not dot com.
I'll try to clear out my PM box to make some room, but it fills up oh so quick as it is, you may have to bare with me...alternatively contact me via the e-mail address above.
rgds, Rob.

Bet cha could bounce a quarter off of that avatar.

How about checking on alternate pricing on stickers with magnetic backs if there is enough interest to do some that way AND you want to fool with it.

The stickers look good. Can't wait to see the others you'll be having reproduced.

Hey Rob, these are great! And I plan to order a few.

Would you happen to know if the printer used UV-resistant inks?

Also, if you are interested in reproducing the large Conrero fender decals, I can send you one of mine (from Italy). Coincidentally, I was just about to look into creating repros since I did not want to put an original on my car, either.

Hi Harold,
I'm not going to get into anything magnetic for now, trying to keep this thing fairly simple.
However, if you check out your local Staples/Office Depot they do self adhesive business card size magnets in blocks of 100 or so...very cost effective way to make a magnetic decal.
rgds, Rob.
PS, my avatar says 'Thanks'

I know the printer uses UV resistant inks, but I double checked anyway...he says his inks are the best available and he expects 8-10 years fade resistance from them on a vehicle.

I'd love to do the Conrero fender decals, but there is not the market to make it viable, and someone in Italy is doing copies already, I bought a pair last year as spares in case the ones on my GT need to be replaced.
Cheers, Rob.

Harold.
I recently bought a 24"x36" sheet of the magnetic material at a sign shop
for, iirc, about US$20.
They have it on long rolls, so you could buy it 36" wide by many feet long.
Should last me for years to mount my own magnetic backed decals. Just a thought.

A quick bump for the weekend readers, and a thank you to those of you who have placed orders, I'll be sorting out postage rates over the weekend, discovered I'll need to use tubes to post the large DOT decals...
Cheers, Rob.

Exclamation Postage Rates:

OK, finally got some sense out of the Post Office this morning.
The rates below will cover up to 10 decals:

1. If your oder includes one or more of the large DOT decals (#1), it will be shipped in a poster tube, rates are:
Within Canada: C$9.00
To US: C$8.00 (yes, cheaper than within Canada)
International: C$10.00

2. If you only have the smaller decals in your order, it can go in a cardboard mailer, rates are:
Within Canada: C$3.00
To US: C$4.00
International: C$6.00

If anyone wants to modify their order, just let me know, otherwise please send a paypal and I'll start mailing out on Monday.

Thanks for your support folks...hopefully more decal news coming next week...

Confussed.

Rob.
I tried to paypal funds to redline_robbie@yahoo.ca and paypal says
it is an invalid address formate?

Also, can you convert the funds so that they are either US$ or CN$ for BOTH the stickers AND postage?
You have them mixed.
Thanks.

It looks like you got the address right, others have paid today with no issues, so I'm not sure what the problem is.You did use the underscore _ between redline and robbie?
I'm leaving the postage in C$ due to fluctuating exchange rates, just check the exchange rate (currently C$1.00 = US$0.91) before you make payment.

PayPal worked fine just now and accepted you account this time. Dunno..... Some glitch last night I guess. <shrugges?>
Let me know if the total US$ funds are sufficient. Don't worry about a few UScents overpayment.

Thanks.

Yes Please..

Nice one Rob,

Dial me up for some of that action. I know you have been talking about getting some done and now it's happened. Time to clean up the tool box and add a little 'Opel' attitude to the snap-on gear.
I'll talk to you soon but initially it looks like two large #1's and four of the door pillar # 3's. Bring some examples of all 4 sorts when you come up later next Month.

Great job, I hope others appreciate the effort you put in to make these available.
