Is this too redneck?
Question: is it too "redneck" to repurpose brass casings as lamp holders for LEDs? ...of course this is the Appalachian Engineering Opel GT I'm working on, but trying to engineer OUT the redneck bits... Assuming this is an acceptable raw material, what's a good source for used brass casings? I need about 10 of each size, in brass (not aluminum, etc). |

Go to your nearest gun range on a Saturday and you can probably get all of the used brass you need from someone who is not a reloader. Or, ask your friends who shoot to save some brass for you. Probably the easiest (and most expensive) way is to buy a box of new ammo and remove the slug and powder and then there is no waiting and no trip to the range. (assuming you are only going to use the cylinder portion of the shell and don't plan to drill through that unfired primer).

I'll go shooting within the next 2 or 3 days, I can send you all the casings you need. PM me your address.
Dieter PS: The ONLY way to remove a bullet from a casing is by pressing the trigger!

bullet puller
Actually they do make a nifty one for us reloaders where you put it in a thing that looks like a hammer and whack it on a bech and the bullet pops out using inertia. You tghen still would have to deal with the unfired primer which are real nasty when they go off.
