A different sort of Opel!
RSF Fireplaces – Woodburning fireplaces When I checked dealer locations, I found that I have an Opel dealer in my home town! Wonder if he can get parts for my Rekord P 2??? Also, when I was in Frankfurt a few weeks ago, I picked up a brochure in the hotel advertising the Opel Zoo! It is located not too far from Frankfurt. Bill |

Hey, when your chrome parts arrive, make sure you polish them with Blitz polish... (notice it even has the Opel lightning bolt on the bottle at the bottom of the label).

Actually, blitz polish would not be appropriate for a Rekord P 2. The first Rekord to have the Blitz emblem was the Rekord A. My Rekord P2 Coupe' has a four speed with a floor shift. The console around the shifter, and, I believe, the transmission came from a Rekord A. The console has the Blitz emblem on it and looks just like the one in a picture of a Rekord A Coupe" in a brochure which I have. The P1s and P2s used the emblem shown below. If I remember correctly, my '54 Rekord also had that emblem. According to the parts books which I have, a four speed was available in the P2 series at some point. Again, based on what I see in the parts book, the four-speed had to be a column shift, since some of the shift mechanism parts are the same for the three and four speeds. There must have been very few of the four-speeds produced because I watch German Ebay all of the time and have never seen a four-speed Rekord P2 for sale. Bill
