Opel Hot Rods

Hello All!

I was hired by a company to build several 3/4 scale hot rods. While at my shop, the customer noticed I had several Red Top Opel motors and he bought them all. So the first four units will have Opel engines with Getrags and the rest will be a combo of V-6 / V-8 units.

Here are a few pictures so you can see the difference.

We built a 32 roadster a couple of years ago, and I thought that using an Opel Driveline would definitly help in building a budget rod, but 3/4 size!!!! The 100% size of a 32 roadster is small in itself, I can't believe they would want it smaller. Actually the body we used was stretched 4 inches for more space. When you say red top, are you talking the 2.0 DOHC Opel engine???? or 1.9, if the 2.0, well then there goes the budget idea.
They look cool

I have 4 of the DOHC engines and several Getrags to go along with them. I brought these back from Germany on my last trip and I will make sure to buy more when I am there. The engine I believe is the same Dieter has on his Ascona. The calculation is approx. 7Lbs/Hp so it will be a nice little 10 second ride.

I should have the first untis in by the time my new shop in Canton is ready.

If people knew that you were bringing back Red Tops, they'd be spoken for before you even made it back to the states.

What is real funny is the company that hired us for the Rods is about 15 minutes away from OGTS. This is going to be the first wave, second wave if all goes well will start in September. I am building one per month starting in December so at least my rent will be paid.

I barely go in and out of the vehicle so I don't believe Gene can attempt an entry without lubricant!

I wonder how difficult it would be to register one for the street, if it's even possible

Not difficult at all, it does have a full VIN and it gets inspected prior to title and license.
