I don't know anything about a 106 mile GT for $25,000, but right now there is a 118,000 mile GT on Craigslist for $18,500! Bill

Once again it brings up the question "what is a restoration?", looks like a highly modified vehicle to me. Perhaps he should have a proffesional appraiser look at it instead of a proffesional restorer. I'am always amazed on how much knowlegde a "proffesional restorer" possesses when money comes into play...

I'm not sure that I have that much confidence in professional appraisers either. To get a title on a GT which I recently bought on Ebay, I had to get an appraisal, so I contacted the local professional appraiser. My GT is relatively rust free and has a decent interior, but the engine won't keep running and it has front end damage, including a missing front bumper. When I received the appraisal, I was shocked. He appraised it at $2900 when I had expected a figure of maybe $1000, and I had paid $610! Now, either I got one heck of a buy, or his appraisal is WAY off! Bill

It never ceases to amaze me that people believe that an appraisal is the cars resale value. An appraisal is a very good insurance value mark as it would usually cost at least the appraisal amount to bring the car back to before accident condition. Has very little bearing on actual resale value of the car. I know I wouldn't think about buying a GT for what the insurance appraisal on mine is.

But the seller says that the restorer told him that "...if someone invests time and money into converting it into a race car, it will be worth $40,000" . THAT would be a Classic Opel record!
