I remember well the first Saabs which I ever saw. It was the summer of 1958 and I was working for General Foods in Tarrytown, NY. I would see them as I drove on the NY Thruway near Tarrytown. Eventually they made their way into central PA where I was going to school. You have until noon (Swedish time) on Friday to make an offer on any or all of the cars in the museum. Bill

Some great cars there..I've always been a fan of the 93GT from the sixties and the Sonnett especially the 3 w/the v4...The last pics of the prototype sports car looks great and I think it said it has an Opel engine

It is sad to see this collection being broken up. All very nice cars. I have always been loyal to GM, but watching them slowly kill off the brand, I may wander over to another brand for my next car unless I get another used Saab 9-5 or 99-03 9-3 vert!!
I wonder if there is anything call Saabitis, a close relative to Opelitis?!?!?
1972 Opel GT, Owner since 1983
2001 Saab 9-5 SE 3.0 Turbo V6 Weeeeeeeeeee!!!
1973 GT, Parted out, R.I.P.
1968 Kadett, Owner since 2006, Sold, 28 June 2008
Makes you wonder what would have happened to the Opel collection had GM shut down Opel a few years ago.
I also found the link on saabcentral.com. I'm sure they will go to some good homes.

Noticed this on page 59 it shows a 900 Turbo "James Bond" model. Was this in a Bond movie?
Lists such options as: Bullet proof tires and glass, body armour, infrared goggles, 4 tear gas ducts, gas operated gun compartment, 1985 cc with 175 horse, top speed 145 plus.

A true Saab story for sure..............
So very sad to see Saab go out of business, especially that way it has gone. The local Saab dealer (who, back not so long ago, was a "Saturn/Saab/Isuzu" dealer, so they had a penchant for soon-to-be-defunct car makers) has their last 27 Saab's on sale this month, for some pretty terrific prices. But who wants to buy a new car that won't have any dealer or warranty support?

Back working on my '71 GT, and I think I still own a '75 SportWagon
I just saw on a message from Hemmings that the city of Trollhättan is paying $4.14 million for the whole Saab museum. So, apparently it will continue in existence. Bill
It was actually "expected" that something like this was in the making due to the way the "auction" was handled. It seemed like the liquidators weren't particularly interested in attraction attention to the sale and that they were just going through the motions to be able to hand the collection as whole over to one buyer, I'm pleased that it's the city of Trollhättan who despite the financial situation has stepped up to the plate because SAAB has meant a lot for that city

The Saab museum of automobile rarities, which has struggled to find a buyer following the company’s recent bankruptcy, has been saved by a Wallenberg-family trust that wanted the museum to remain intact.

Good to hear. It would be a shame to break up such a significant collection.![]()

Hemmings has a piece about the North American collection of heritage Saabs being auctioned off this week as a single lot of 11 cars. Here is the link. Bill
