    Welcome

What are you planning on doing with it? Keep or sell? The tank and the gas in it are probably shot. Run a hose to a gas can of fresh gas to try and start it. DON'T turn on the headlights by flipping them over. Opel used a type of wiring on them that had insulation that dries and falls off causing a massive electrical meltdown. My car sat in a Pennsylvania garage for 18 years before a got it and I had those problems.

Sorry to scare you there. Other than that stuff it's just like any other old car. Check the fluids, wiring, hoses, etc.

We'll all help you with getting the car going again. Tell us some more about it. Pictures of the engine compartment and lower areas of the body will help us evaluate it's restorability.

Those plastic vent hoses for the gas tank will be brittle by now. The tank sits inside the passenger compartment with you and your passenger.

Even if you don't smell gasoline fumes inside the car, change those hoses out immediately, if not sooner.

I live about an hour away from you. The next two weekends are out, but I'm sure I can take a look at the car after that.

I've been working on these cars for over 30 years. I know the in's and out's of the car, but I'm no expert. I just like to tinker with them.

    As mentioned earlier,

    Electrical on the headlights,
    Brake line change out(flex lines),
    New Brake Fluid,
New rear cylinders on the brakes, and possibly new front calipers,
    Fuel vent lines.
The fuel pump and water pump may work in the short term, but they should be replaced.
Cooling system thermostat should be changed along with a complete coolant flush. All new fluids, including rear end oil.
    Tires

If you can, put a large wrench on the crankshaft bolt and see if the engine will spin.

As mentioned earlier, what are your plans for the car? Keep, sell, or something else?
