A car to transplant opel drive train into

i am thinking of buyin a car that i could build a nice performing 1.9l opel engine for and put in an opel 4 spd. or maybe eve an opel auto box, thinking of something like a chevy nova two door or something of that sort, main idea is to take some sort of econo box 2 door from the 80's rip everything out but the two front seats customize up the dash and drop in a opel drive train, several other things are a custom removable top lift kit of some sort and preferably find an econo box with a lift gate, jus want a project car, any ideas are welcome. i dont want to spend more then 300 and up to 500 hundred on the intail purchase of the vehicle.

thats a sweet idea, i was thinking for the removable top is on chopping it off at as straight of a line all the way around as possible with a plasam torch then design latches for it so i can lift it on and off.
