    Directions

Okay everyone here's the lowdown on our event. I have extended an invite to some of my MIATA friends to follow behind us on the run. Once we reach HWY 4 the Miatas can depart west and return to Stockton and highway 99 and on home. We of course will continue southward to OGTS. We will most likely make a second pit/gas stop before reaching OGTS. To be determined where. Gil will be our great host again and will be providing cups, silverware, plates, drinks and burgers and dogs. I would suggest we should bring items like green salad, mac salad, potato salad, chips, dip, veggie platter, veggies to bbq, fruit & desserts. PLEASE RESPOND BY LISTING WHAT DISH YOU INTEND ON BRINGING SO WE DON'T HAVE TOO MANY OF ONE ITEM! ALSO KEEP IN MIND IF THE FOOD YOU ARE BRINGING IS PERISHABLE YOU WILL NEED TO BRING AN ICEPACK TO CHILL IT. If you have special dietary needs please be sure to pack accordingly.

Neil, CA 49 takes you to Placerville, not El Dorado Hills. You missed the right turn on Salmon Falls Rd.

The Tinyvette won't be ready. I may follow you guys in the Tahoe or just meet you at Gil's instead.

I have an empty seat available in my car. Thanks for the tip on directions Terry!

I'll be bringing some fresh fruit and diet sodas.

Things are not going well with rewiring the GT. I am working on it, but might not be ready for the run. In that case, I will have to take the GT's cousin: My Sky. Anyway, I am planning on being there regardless if the GT is ready or not.

My wife, Stephanie, and I will be there.
My GT is still plaguing me with intermittent electrical problems. If I can't get it resolved before Saturday, we'll be bringing her Miata.

    We'll bring potato-chip cookies, and a salad.

OK, it looks like the GT is not going to cooperate with the last part of the wiring. So the Sky will be my vehicle. My wife is going to make her potato salad and we will be there. It will be good to put some faces to the names.

    Bob

PS, we are going to be staying in Sonora overnight and get to Gils on Saturday morning. So we will see you all at Gils.

Opels, a Sky, and Miatas, should be a good site.

My truck started making bearing sounds up front (fan belt noises) so is in the shop today. Must drive the GT to work. It's a tough task but I think I can do it.

Okay, I believe I've taken care of the problem. I've split the ignition system out from the rest of the car's electrical, giving it a dedicated stand-alone system.

We'll be bringing those potato-chip cookies, and pasta salad.
See you at 7:30 to 8:30 Saturday.

I'll be going up separately in my Tahoe, bringing some parts to Gil and hopefully bringing some home.

Take good pictures, and lots of them, and take notes, and write up the story for The Blitz, become famous.

Camera packed, hotel reservations...check. Headed out this morning to Sonora. I am taking the SKY. I won't be doing the run from Auburn because of time constraints on Saturday. We are headed to the bay area after the Opel meet at Gil's. Not much room in the SKY so we are packed light. Will have the potato salad. I am looking forward to seeing all the people that I know only from the forum, after all these years, I will be putting some faces to the names. See everyone on Saturday. Drive safe.

Have fun y'all. I'll be there in spirit! Timing just didn't work out for me this year.

Great meet, great turnout. We had a total of 11 cars on the trip down, 1 ea. Sport Wagon, Manta, Kadet, Miata, and BMW Z4 plus 6 GTs. Dieter is back. He flew to Salt Lake Thursday, bought a GT, drove it back to Auburn Friday and made the Fun Run. Gil was the grill master serving burgers, dogs and pork and was the usual excellent host. We thank him for all his effort. We hada Sky from Fallon, NV, the Manta was from LA, and Blitz Editor Mike drove directly there from Davis, CA. The weather was perfect, low 80's for a break. The last several foothill weekends have been wet. No lost wheels, no snowbanks, no breakdowns and no one lost this trip. Just a smooth drive (as best as it gets on CA potholes) from Auburn to Sonora. Will post some pictures later. I hope others chime in as well.

It was a good meet. I wish we all had more time to hang out. Maybe the 2018 Tour, which will be happening a year from today, will give us that.

    Also, some pics.
