May start on a GT, need some help!

Well there has been my moms 72' GT sitting in the yard ever since I could remember. It is pretty rusted out, which is the reason I havn't already tried to start a restoration. I have always wanted to get her a new 72' GT because alls she ever talks about is how much she loved that car. Well the body is nice, but it has the usual rust spots. Floor boards are unrepairable, belly pan is the same, and the rocker panels are almost gone. I know this is basically a parts car, but whenever I mention getting a DIFFERENT GT, she pretty much says she would love to have this one fixed, and I don't blame her. Being able to drive a car that she's had since high school. I was wondering if anyone had any decent rockers, or floor boards, or a belly pan that they could sell me. I would love to get this car on the road again sometime. PM me or email me at PonyGT302@yahoo.com if you could be of ANY help! I would greatly appeciate it!

    Thanks a bunch in advance
    Jon

    Hi Jon,
A quick reminder to you and all that the floor boards that JC Whitney sells for the VW Bug are a really close fit to the Opel GT. You get solid, new metal floor boards that need a minimum of work to make them fit. Plus the price is pretty cheap on top of it!

I would also like to know WHICH floor pan is needed. I looked them up on the site, and there were like 4 or 5 of them. How close of a fit are they? Are they too large or too small. I would rather have to cut away some of the new stuff, then not have enough and have to partially make some of my own.

Anyone got pictures of the install or had experiance with them?

Measure what you need to repair yours. The VW pan sizes are listed as follows:
    Front panels: 31" x 18.5"
    rear panels: 36" x 21.5"
These are listed for the 54-79 Beetle and Super Beetle

Yeah, if this really fits, it would be a major victory for Opelers everywhere! Has anyone done it? Please tell us more!

Even if someone has access to both to do a side by side comparison photo would be tremendous!!!

I have searched the other threads and havn't really found anything about VW Floor Pans. I think that it would be appropriate to start a new forum to draw more attention to the members that don't visit this thread.
