Great Sadness (Selling the Yellow GT) :(

It is with great sadness that I am typing this thread.

During the weekend I received an email from my brother. He informed me that I had to sell the Yellow GA Opel GT. Because of his recent family addition (I have a new nephew), he needs to free up some funds and decided that the GA Opel needs to go at this point in time as well as one that he has in Florida.

Since this forum has been so good to me and has helped me out in so many ways I was going to offer it to a GA (or anyone else) on the forum that will give the GT a good home.

This is the story of how I brought it down from the snow in Wisconson with some photos of the car.

I will also be selling all of the Opel parts I have. This is to generate funds for my son to go to the UK (BAZ area) during the upcoming summer. Some of you have been to my garage and know I have a lot of nice parts.

I talked about this at the last get together with some of you with the idea that I would keep some of the parts. However since my brother has said to sell the car, everything can go!

is it the kid in the avatar coming ? if so he's a bit young for the bars round here , really need to be about 16 to stand a chance of getting a beer lol

at least if you buy pounds now you will have a good head start for next summer ( if we have one ) i will need to wait before i can buy $$'s for next year

No, it is not him, it will be his big brother. He will only be 13 next summer. So the pubs will be out of his reach.

He was invited to be an student ambassador with the program called "People to People" This is the web site

Only 40 students from the Atlanta area are invited to participate so it is a great honor and a once in a life time trip (He will be given some special trips around the parliment)

I wish I could go with him but at $6,000+ for the 19 day trip there is no way I have that type of funds.

First and foremost, you don't have to "dis-appear" from the forum. secondly, there's a GA Opeler, well looking for an Opel and he has cash in hand. Contact Steve Goines (goines626) here on the site, that way it can stay here in the GA group.

Rick, sorry you have to get rid of the Opels. But I think I can say on behalf of everyone here that you are still welcome on this forum any time.

Thanks I will let you know when you can drop by. As you know my weekends are normaly very busy with Boy Scouts so I will let you know.

Last weekend I place Flags on graves of veterens, picked up Popcorn, sorted popcorn, delivered popcorn, crawled thru a cave, sleepled in a cave and was at a planning meeting...all for Boy Scouts.

I corrected my write up I will not disappear from the Opel GT forum. I will be sticking around.

I have talked with Steve Goines and he will come down sometime this week to take a look at the Opel. So thank you Gene for forwarding the info to him!!

Well, that was quick.

Steve said he will purchase the GA Yellow Opel.

I also have a Orange Opel located in Fla that is for sell also. I will post some photos of that when I have them in the For Sale section. The Fla Orange GT runs like a top. I will post photos when I get them.

Sorry to hear this unfortunate story! At least we had the chance to meet in person and exchange a few stories. I'm sure....in due time...an Opel will fall into your hands again!!

I am still looking for the curved chrome strips that go around the drivers and passenger's side windows. Need them in good shape and willing to pay accordingly. Let me know if you have a pair, and what you want for them, plus shipping. Thanks, sorry to hear you have to get rid of the cars.

Will let you know if I have some, I will have to do a little digging. It will be awhile before I can do the digging because I have things going on this week every day!!

Thanks, no hurry, still have to put the engine in, and do the inside. Let me know if you come across them, it's the only thing that I seem to have misplaced during the rebuild, and the windows don't look complete without them.
