I was thinking of bringing my kids out to the show this weekend but saw this morning that rain is predicted all weekend. I thought I read somewhere that they move the car show to Sunday if it rains on Saturday? Can anyone confirm this that has attended in the past?
Thanks, Matt |

If you can get here a little before 8:30, then we shold still be here, only takes about 15 minutes to get there. But, I have John bringing some ice to cool down water, but, if you have a cooler, could you bring some extra ice?, just in case? |

Well The orphan Car Show 2007 is now in the record books and we're already looking forward to next year. This year we had 6 GTs, 3 Sportwagons, and one Manta. In attendance were John Lewis (guyopel), Reis (Agent N.U.B), Tony Holcomb (phoenix), Mike (cfrssy)and his family, myself (with the wife and kids), Dan (wrench459) and his wife Lisa, Dan (MrGing) and Ging (Ging) White, Oliver Siebert, Brian (burst) and wife (I can't recall her name) and a visit by Joshua (akitamojo). The weather was overcast, but, did not rain. It was cold, but, at least we didn't burn up. There was much talk, of Opels, and catching up on what has happened since the last time we met. We ran into a a guy that was from Holland, but was working at a local Chevy Dealer, he had some personal pics of Opels he had built while in Germany, and he offered his assistance in helping locate parts in europe through friends and contacts he still has. The biggest highlight was that we, OPELs, had our own catagory and didn't have to compete with other imports, and 3 of our own won awards. John Lewis, Reis, and Mike won for the Opel Class, CONGRATULATIONS Guys!!! Here's pics from the Show.

Great pix - thanks for posting! I wish we could have joined you but the kids had too many other things planned for the day. I have a question: what are the "inserts" in the headlights in this picture:

Characters
I forgot to post this, seems these two "characters" had shown up, complete with 1960 Ford Galaxie 4dr black and white with "Mayberry Police Department" on the sides and the fishing pole antenna tied down. Seems that "Barney" and "Goober" were handing out "tickets" to all these cars that were parked "illegally" on the town's soccer field
Oh, and before you ask, I did ask "Barney" if he had his one bullet in his pocket, and sure enough he reached in and pulled it out.

So Famous I'm Infamous

It was a great show. Opel put a strong effort in this year. I would have liked to have my car ready but I just have so much to do on it. Couldn't even roll it with out the front wheels. But I'm making sure to do everything right the first time with all the best parts. It was great to have a couple of "new" faces there this years and hope to see many more there next year. A small victory to be recognized with our own awards this year and its a unique show. How many other shows showcase cars like AMC, Studabaker, TVR, Willy, etc? Not too many.
AMC made a strong showing too with 3 AMXs, a Javelin, an Ambassador, a Rambler, and 2 Pacers- one coupe and one wagon. I've never seen so many Avantis in one place. Plymouth and Olds took advantage of their eligiblility with at 442, and an all-original 68 Barracuda S. And oddities are always there- this year it was a King Midget. |
