Orphan Car Show
All Opeler's in the South. The Orphan Car Show in Snellville, GA is going to be Saturday May 6th 2006 I have word that the OMC Blitz is possibly going to be sending someone to cover this event for the Opel Community. I can tell you now, that last year we made a real big splash showing up with about 8 Opels, including Dallas' Spyder. I'd like to get a few more this year, but, now we have a date, then the planning can begin! Come one and all!

That's cool, what do you think Dieter means by the other "1/2" Opel? Dieter's white Kadett has had more trailer miles than most have driven their's

Basically this is a eclectic mix of marques that are no longer made, both foreign and domestic. They don't have to be new, or old, complete or not, stock or highly customized. They could be as recent as Oldsmobiles, to the most obscure marque you can think of. My two neighbors are in it every year, they have Studebakers. But, since Opel is no longer imported to this country, as of yet, it qualifies. If I remember correctly, but, I'll pass on the details as I get them, they start about 9amand run till the late afternoon. There's an area nearby where there's arts and crafts, food and general entertainment. There's also a huge park just a short stroll away for relaxing while others come in and ooo and ahhh over the cars. You can set up cabanas and shades, bring coolers and stay with your car, if you like, or wander about oooo'ing and ahhh'ing yourself. The last few times I have been in this, Mother Nature only dis-appointed us once. So, come on down!!

As far as I know there are no conflicts on the dates for Daniel and I. Had a great time last year and this year since Gene got a cabana for us we should have one that will actually stay up.
(Think I still owe you for that, too, Gene.) Beware of one thing folks - the food at the little festival ain't cheap.

Here's a quick map as to the location of where Briscoe Park is in relation to Snellville. As for that day, we'll probably do like we did last year and meet at my house and drive over enmass to make sure all the cars get put together in one group

Carol and I will make it. I've taken the day off from work this year. No half awake quick appearance for us this year.
The food vendor area was our chance to try the infamous deep fried pickle! Little salty, but interesting! This year got to hit the funnel cake! (Where's my Lipitor?) Now to buckle down and get that 105 Amp alternator in the GT so I have the power to make it there and back! Brian Oh I forgot to mention that the collection of "Orphan" cars was very good. Quite the mix. Road Runners to Pacers. Very cool idea of a gathering of cars! |

You want to go north on I-75, then take I-285 east around to exit 39B which is "Snellville, Stone Mountain Frwy, Hwy 78" Go 13 miles straight out east till you get to the light at "Highpoint Rd", turn left, go about a mile to the flashing yellow light and turn right on "Bruckner", go to the second left "Norton Estates Circle", then go to the curve (only one) and I'm the yellow/green ranch on the left with the (correct GA flag) out front, and all the Opels parked in the driveway

Good forecast
Well, the weather looks great...
Saturday: Partly cloudy skies. High 81F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph. Saturday night: Cloudy skies. Low 59F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph. Ging and I just cleaned up the GT and the trailer. We'll be there. Gene, Do you have a better idea of what time the event starts and when we should be there to pre-register? We'll probably come to your place like before. What time should we descend upon your place? Sure hate it that Dallas is not going to make it this year. At least everyone else has a chance to win something this time. ![]() Never mind. I read your other post. Well be there around 8:00. Ging and I will be in one car so I'm available to drive when we get there... if you still need a driver. |
