Hello Wisconsin Area GT enthusiasts...just saw listing on eBay for a '69 GT for sale in Elkart Lake, WI, home of my favorite race track, Road America. The GT is rough and needs work. It is listed as a parts car and has one bid at $300.

Speaking of parts cars, a moment of silence please for the passing of my '74 Manta parts car, which met its ultimate demise yesterday. I'll post pictures of the car after being stripped and then as the crane lifted it onto the scrap heap. THANKS to all of you for helping to take this hulk apart - special thanks to Jeff P for the use of the amazing Sawzall, John G for helping remove the engine & tranny, and to Gerry for removal help throughout and loading the hulk onto the trailer. Parts removed from this car have already gone to helping keep at least six Opels on the road.

Purchase price of the parts car...$68.00
Scrap value paid by the scrapyard...$28.75
Learning more about Opels with my buddies & son...priceless
Wife happy now that hulk is gone from the parking pad...

That picture hurts!
My very first baby (71 Manta) was green like the one in the jaws of that crusher I hope its fate was better than your parts car.

OAA in Milwaukee(Mequon), WI

For all of the opelers in the Milwaukee area who have been wondering about our next get together, it has landed on this Saturday at John Gresley's house. Not much notice, but life has been crazy and it seems to be the only Saturday that most of us can make. John needs a GT or 2 out of his barn and Charles needs an oil pan gasket replaced on his Manta. The fall weather has hit Wisconsin, and it is time to prepare for the cold weather. Possibly the last project outside, so let's make the best of it!
If any new opelers wish to get directions to John's house, feel free to email me.
Gerry

I should be able to make it today, 10/21. I'll bring the Route 66 shirts for Gerry and Charles. Anything else we need other than the usual? I'm assuming the regular time of noonish, so see ya'll then!

As long as you are getting ready for winter projects

Any of the Milwaukee guys interested in an 69 1100 gt and some extra parts?

Car is in Brookfield - one owner since 72 - rust in all the normal places - started and ran 2 years ago

PM me

Time to start those projects!

The Spring has come and gone and we still haven't had our first get together of the year. We all have been busy, which makes coordinating something more challenging. So here it goes. Saturday June 30th starting at 1:00pm location open. My house or John G's for some dismantling and cutting of Kadett for body work; Jeff P's for finishing his Manta; or suggestions.
Email me or give a call.

Hey GMO Guys,
I'm not going to be around the next few weekends. We just left Monday for our family vacation taking what is left of the old Route 66 from Chicago to LA. Tonight we're at St. Robert, Missouri (near Fort Leonard Wood between Rolla and Springfield, MO). We'll be back around July 7-8, and the weekend after that I'm bringing the '75 Manta to the Iola Old Car Show. I'll be around more in July and August, so I'm looking forward to that!

Thanks!

Thank you for the invite. If it is on the 30th I won't be able to make it. It will be the wife's B-day. This would not be a good day to go out...

Smile Let's get an early start!

May 3rd sounds good to me. Hopefully spring will show it's face that day! It is the first "meet" of the season for us, and it is time to dust your garage queens off or wash the daily drivers and have some fun. If nothing more, it will give us a lift to get our projects going without the excuses of winter(at least for me).

I'm in for May 3, and Pete, your shop or home would be fine. The last two times I went up and wanted to bring one of the Mantas back from winter storage it had snowed (including last weekend!), but the forecast for this weekend is looking good! Now I just have to decide which one to bring back. It has been a long, hard winter, so I am so looking forward to Opeling and seeing everyone again!

I won't be able to make the 3rd of May as my wife and I will be in Madison for her niece's wedding. My Manta is still apart but I hope to have it up and running by the end of May or the next meet can be at my garage to get my car going!

I was hoping to drive my GT to the first meeting this year. But it's not looking to good at this time, I got it running but I can"t seem to get the timing set right. Running points yet, think I have to go electronic. I've been working on it sense the weather broke, regasketed the motor (no leaks) New seals in tranny (still need new back up light switch leaking through that) rebuilt head light mech. Rebuilt rear break cylinders, new rubber hoses front and rear. converted master cylinder to a geo metro master cylinder mounted on the fire wall and it seems to work great (the little bit I've drove it so far) New header and carb, Changed windshield it was broke and leaking the last few years it was stored, interior was wet and had to be all taken out and dried. Man there's a lot to do on these thirty five year old girls, Thought it would be pretty cheap to get this running, Ha Ha Ha ya right. Well I really was looking forward to meeting all you guys but I should be able to make the next meeting so till next time.
