Unanswered: Distributor / Temp sensor cables repositioning

Hello friends!

Since I first started working on the Ascona, I really disliked the way the distributor and temperature sensor cables were positioned in the engine bay. From the factory, the temp sensor cable comes out of the loom just below the coil. From there, together with the coil's "-" cable, they just dangle in mid-air all they way across to the distributor area, with no support at all. Then the temp cable just follows the fuel line, again with no support, all around the front of head to the thermostat housing.

This just doesn't look nice to my eyes. It looks like careless DIY job, or messy non-stock wiring. In addition, I have had to replace the temperature sensor cable twice, because it gets "cooked" by passing so close to the cylinder head...

I am thinking of running the distributor cable all the way back towards the firewall, then have it join the loom that goes to the starter,/alternator, and from there follow the alternator wiring (which ends right below the distributor). So out goes one...

About the temperature sensor cable I have no idea! I have seen it go along the firewall, behind the carburetor, and straight to the front, but this way it would have to go over the manifolds which I don't really like (even more heat than stock positioning). Have you found any other solutions to make the engine bay look "cleaner"?

Of course, pictures are worth 1000 words!

Thank you in advance!

P.S. I added a picture of the current situation, cables in red circle. Ignore the hanging throttle cable end, the picture was taken right after adjusting the valves, and the cable was unhooked for valve-cover clearance issues...
