I did this one with stained and varnished mahogany around the gauges, vinyl glued to old dash, dumpster dove for free low pile carpet, modified RX7 steering wheel, and Ichibahn pedals and shifter knob. I redid the seats and door panels in vinyl to match the dash. I don't think I would redo a dash pad with glued vinyl again. It was just to much time and effort to get it right.

Solo II is fun in a GT!

White paint brushed on all metal surfaces. No carpet, no headliner, no radio. Kirkey aluminum racing seat (padded) and rhino lined dash because I might glance down at the top of the dash. And an 8 ball shifter knob, just because.

Hi,
I airbrushed the dash and centerconsole in wallnut and finished it with carpaint I painted the clocks in ivorycolor and used autocad, a printer and transparants to make new faces. The seats are redone in ivory vinyl (same as original) I used the same vinyl to redo the doorpanels, the steering wheel, the centerconsole, the back panels in the car, the gearshift. I made new carpets in green. I just used plain home carpet to cut and form the new ones. I dont need an ashtray so I used that space to put 2 switches for electrical windows and one switch for a central lock system. Those are placed in a wallnut airbrushed plate. Geert

door panels
I did these door panels in vinyl with contact cement, staples, and temp board.
The door handle is from a Mustang (95?). This was not hard to do and cost about $15/door. The hardest part was angle welding treaded mounts to the door to secure the door handle. RattyGT 050.jpg |

You can look in Dallas photos for some door panel options. Here is the link
Dallas Gallery - Opel Photo Gallery Even in his passing, he is still contributing. He also had some dash modifications, but I forget what thread they are in. |
