Hmm, with that much drop, you should really consider the Koni yellows. They are shorter in travel to match lowered ride heights (and avoid shock bottoming), and valved a bit firmer to help keep you off the bump stops. Just a thought.

We just went through this entire subject and this is the thread. Remember when you find the part numbers in the thread that you don't want the Koni Sport shocks as they are the Yellow ones (unless you are taking R'Bobs suggestion). The two parts numbers are exactly the same for Red and Yellow with the exception of the word Sport added for the yellow ones. BTW you will not find them anywhere for less $.

Thanks for all your help, and as far as using the "sport" shocks I e-mailed Gil directly to clarify and the reds or yellows will work. In regards to that I deciede to go with the reds because they yellows are recomended for racing applications and the reds are fully adjustable anyway.
Thanks for the help -Aron P.S. I'll be sure to post pictures when finnish the drop. I'm still saving money so it will be at least a month from now. |

I've got a GT with the 1" drop front spring and Koni "yellows" and have NO ride quality issues. I wouldn't let the racing stigma get in the way of using the yellows.

The Koni reds, IMO, are not sufficient in terms of travel before bottoming, and in terms of dampening capability, even though they are adjustable. The lower you go, the greater dampening you will require to maintain ride quality. You do not want 'soft' dampening on a lowered car, believe me the ride quality degrades rapidly when the suspension bottoms out! And the possibility of bottoming the 'reds' out just means that when the shocks fail (and they will if they are too long and they bottom), you'll need to buy another set....this time 'yellows'! HTH, Bob

No, don't listen to RallyBob, he has no idea what he's talking about.
![]() Bob does know what he is talking about but hey if people like paying twice for their shocks then good for them, way to stimulate the sagging economy.

I looked into it a little more and Opel GT Source doesn't sell koni's anymore. This is because the way they buy them in bulk they need to get 50 more orders before they will re-stock them. So, having said that I found out that you can order them straight from the koni manufacturer for only $1.00 more per shock. OGTS wanted to subitute them with their KYB's but after your input I don't think they would be sufficient.

What I said was Koni informed me that "They, Koni" would need an order of 50 sets of shocks, before "They, Koni" would make another production run. If you need Yellow Koni's front, I have 4 pair of them In-Stock. If you need one pair Koin red rear, I have one set In-Stock.
