Smile Unanswered: Opel Gt.1970 font disc caliper.

Hello:

Does any one know where I can purchase remanufactured front calipers for a 70 Opel GT. I also need a rebuild kit for the same vehicle.Any parts stores or sources? Nothing on E-Bay Motors available.

Thanks;
Ang

Brake parts

Hi,
I am also looking for drums, calipers, bearings etc. OGTS is the source but does anyone have a list of equivalet parts that can be purchased from the local parts store? It may be a little bit less $s and that helps.

Ask yourself this. Is it worth trying to use another part on a 30+ year old imported car to save a couple of $$ when a braking system is involved? This is not an area you want to cut corners. Just my 0.02 worth. I'm off my soapbox now.

Try any local parts place. They can usually get calipers and rotors, brake lines, pads, shoes etc.

You may have to ask the parts guy to look under Buick-Opel, but usually you can get most of this stuff locally.

Brake parts

Hi,
In principle you are correct.I am not looking to cut corners.
But I have learned to ask....
A lot of the OGTS parts are "standard".The clutch I purchased for my GT was not from them but from Dialaclutch, and it looks the same and works just fine.
Bearings and rotors/drums are also available under manufacturers part#???.
I don't think OGTS has these parts made just for them.
They have done the homework, know what works and charge accordingly.
I do appreciate your thoughts, but again..it's worth looking into it

Agreed. I guess I'm too lazy to look into other suppliers outside the opel world. I know my parts are going to be "fresh" when seals are involved and I'm getting too old to craw under the GT on a gravel driveway
