Unanswered: Brake options

I am curious if anybody has adapted a brake booster and master cylinder from a more common car on a GT? I can't think of any reason why this would not work as long as the master cylinder stroke and bore you use is the same size or maybe just slightly larger than the stock opel setup. Anybody have any thoughts?

i dont know anyone ever done that?.it seems to me it would have to be the exact size to fit a gt.i do know the opel kadett has the same setup as the gt does so you might want to look more into that unless you can find a car with the same size brake booster and the master cylinder. Maxx

Well the way I am thinking is the whole system is simply a hydrolic system. I am not concerned about mounting and linkage, I am a welder so that is all very minor. If a slightly larger bore master cylinder is used that means your brakes are going to be a bit more touchy due to the increased surface area of the piston. If the stroke is longer then that means there may be a longer pedal travel. I am thinking though that I can find a master and booster that are nearly identical in a Honda or something that I can find in a junk yard. If I can find an early 90's master I may be able to use the ABS (Ani Lock Brake System) because they were actually on the master cylinder itself instead of the individual wheel. That is just an out there thought, my main concern is seeing if maybe there is another brake setup that will work as well or better than the stock unit.

BMW 5 Series Master Cylinder

http://www.opelgt.com/forums/group-5...nder-size.html

1980 BMW 320i master cylinder/ 1978 BMW 5series MC (15/16) will bolt to GT brake booster.
Approx. $60 Remanufactured Cardone 112434.

You will need a T-Fitting, similar to one that splits rear Opel brake lines. BMW master cylinder has 2-ports instead of GT 3-ports. Brake lines will exit towards LH headlight bucket (requires some sheet metal notching). Not sure if resevior from GT fits, or if there is BMW reservoir that will clear GT hood. Please read attached Posts ...

Not sure about other Vehicle Brake Boosters that fit? I had my GT Booster rebuilt for $200, many years ago.
