Autozone master cylinder
Has anyone ever tried this master cylinder from autozone? It seems like a good deal at $41.07 http://autozone.com/R,APP17697/vehic...ductDetail.htm

Couldn't get the link to come up but the picture looks like it will work. Did they say it was available. Though they list it, I have found that they tell me they no longer can get it. The story of an Opel.....

Not Only ....
But also Online Auto Parts and Auto Accessories Store at PartsAmerica.com has them listed too - 'Cardone' brand remanufactured ... if I remember correctly ... A big name brand in the reman business.

Cardone MC Not Available
AutoZone lists Fenco Reman Master Cylinder, while Kragen list A1 Cardone. Tried to purchase Cardone, but was told - no longer available
. Installed GT Cardone MC in 2002; no problems with it. |

Copy of Rock Auto Description:
A-1 CARDONE Part # 111541 {[Master Cylinder] Reman. {Return and Rebuild Only - Call Customer Service for more information}} * Non-stock item--shipping delayed up to 2 business days * $26.89 $10.00 $36.89 Great Price! Curious if they want Customer to return core to be specifically rebuilt (as MC cores seem to be in short supply). At that price it would be worth it, except for the waiting. Wonder if I have an extra core somewhere? |

I got one for my wagon last Winter from
Auto Parts Giant for about the same price. It seems like many of the internet auto parts suppliers use the same warehouse and parts management systems. |

master cylinder opel gt
OK Ive spent half the day contacting all the part stores online and locally. every one has it listed in there computer but non to sell. As stated before in the other threads there aren't any cores out there to be rebuild. the only place I could find is rockauto. what they are doing is after you buy it they'll send you info (e-mail) on where to send your core to have it rebuilt. still a great deal for those who don't want to rebuild them yourself. Or you can spend $100 at opelgtsource.
also found a nice place to get your power booster rebuilt for $130 at KARP'S Power Brakes Welcome to Karps Brake Service |

Do yourself a favor, send the hundred bucks to OpelGTSource. Stop banging your head. You'll find your MC waiting for you on the the porch tomorrow (not tomorrow as its a national holiday) when you get home from work.
I suspect Rock Auto will have you send the core to the same re-manufacturer as OGTS. If so, you may have to wait until they have enough cores to do a batch production run. Hopefully you don't need your Opel for a while. It took me almost 4 months of doing what you're doing, just to find an original new stock MC, install it to find the seals were dried up (just like people on this forum told me), then get a rebuild kit from OGTS. I ended up spending more money screwing around with it trying to save a couple of dollars. So I'm giving you the Nike advice, "Just do it". |

Autozone shows master cylinders available online. In May I went to Autozone and bought a rebuild kit for my GT M/C. I asked about reman units and they said they were indeed available.

Master Cylinder and booster problem...solved!
I went through the song and dance with my gt master cylinder a few months ago ..tried rebuilding with a $65 kit from OGTS I still had problems with the fluid leaking back in the booster as the m/c had rusted out enough to not allow the seal to block fluid...solution..went to pull-a-part looked around for a m/c and booster that would fit...I found a 1992 Geo Metro ..pulled the m/c and booster took it home and couldn't believe how perfect it fit..it takes a little file and fit to make it work..just the actuating rod and 4 feet of new brake line for the drivers side hookup..the beauty part..it's smaller..looks like it was meant to be there, and it's a whole lot lighter...good luck...dave

What kind of adjustments, modifications were required to use the Metro m.c. and booster? I've seen one that is mounted on the firewall but there was a fitting or welded frame that held it and the relationship to the pedal mechanism would be changed.
