Unanswered: Rubber brake hose replacement
I take it to remove these a line wrench or flare wrench is used to loosen the fitting on the metal brake line, then the clamps that hold the rubber brake hoses is removed, then the hose can be removed from the caliper or rear brake cylinder? Last edited by BDD; 05-12-2007 at 09:58 PM. |

The clips that hold the brake hoses are just to keep the hoses from moving arouind in the brackets. You can actually take out the clips before you loosen the fittings. I've had to use two pairs of vice grips on my original hoses to break them loose. Of course I was replacing the whole brake system, so I didn't care how I got them apart. Just be sure if you're just replacing the hoses, you don't round off the steel line fittings.
