Brake Pedal goes to Floor
You may not need a new master cylinder (they're harder to find now too).
If the master ran out of fluid during the brake bleeding process, it could mean that air found its way into the lines (simulating a failure condition). If so, more bleeding (including the master itself, as well as at the 4 wheels) could cure that. Alternately, it's rare that a master just quits. Usually that means an internal seal (or the external 2 reservoir seals) became damaged. If so, seals themselves are available in master rebuild kits (sold by Opel retailers). I would hone the bore of the master cylinder, just to remove residual and potentially-damaging internal rust too. Instructions on how to rebuild a GT master cylinder are also available in the June 2004 OMC Blitz. |
