i think i found the problem. today i was changing the oil and noticed on my coil that one of the bolts were stripped that hold one of the metal peices that hold wiring on was VERY loosed. so i put a smaller nut on and now its tighter. i dont know if that fixed it cuz it just so happens my master cylinder went out when i was bleeding on the brakes today. now i gotta get a new master cylinder and put it on then drive the car and see if it "turns off" again. so ill let you know in a couple of days if that was it. in the mean time the opel is gonna be parked. till i get a new master cylinder.

Brake Pedal goes to Floor
You may not need a new master cylinder (they're harder to find now too).
If the master ran out of fluid during the brake bleeding process, it could mean that air found its way into the lines (simulating a failure condition). If so, more bleeding (including the master itself, as well as at the 4 wheels) could cure that. Alternately, it's rare that a master just quits. Usually that means an internal seal (or the external 2 reservoir seals) became damaged. If so, seals themselves are available in master rebuild kits (sold by Opel retailers). I would hone the bore of the master cylinder, just to remove residual and potentially-damaging internal rust too. Instructions on how to rebuild a GT master cylinder are also available in the June 2004 OMC Blitz. |
