Question Unanswered: 1900 Brake Caliper ('73)

Hello- I have a '73 1900 wagon that needs new front calipers badly. I see online sites advertising ones for later model years such as '75 & '76 at reasonable prices e.g. :

Opel 1900 Brake Caliper | Always In Stock - A1 Cardone, 76

Does anyone know if this will work on my '73?

Thanks

I don't know about 1976, but, the 75 brakes are the most popular upgrade for the 1.9 Opels, this includes the GT, Kadett, Manta, and Ascona. I personally have 2 1974 and one 75 Sportwagons. I have upgraded the two 74's to the 75 brake, this is a straight bolt on job. If you decide to go to the 75 brakes, you'll need to get the rotors and the metal brake lines to do this swap, which again is a straight bolt on. If you have a salvage yard near you with BMWs, especially the 77-83 BMW 320i, these are the same as the 75 Opel ones, You can get the calipers, rotors and front brake lines for the swap

Thanks much! I have good rotors now and was hoping not to make too many changes but this is good info. I remember back in the late 70's when I had my first 1900 a buddy had a BMW 2002 who used Opel parts so I'm not surprised that some things will transfer.

If you have the rotors for your 73, you'll need to stay with the smaller calipers. But, if you happen upon a BMW or a 75 Manta/Ascona, get the brakes off it.

'73 1900 calipers

Sorry for the delay and thanks for the advice. Any idea where I can find calipers compatible with the original '73 1900 rotors?

Online Auto Parts and Auto Accessories Store at PartsAmerica.com lists Raybestos remanufactured calipers.
