Unanswered: Engine Crossmember

I need to know what the engine cross member torque settings are where the 6 bolts screw into the body "frame" and for the engine mounts themselves. There are two other bolts that screw into the side on the cross member as well.
I also need the torque settings for the four bolts on the transmission mount.
I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel as I got my engine and transmission back in today!
Thanks for any information you can pass my way!

Thanks...

Roy, you mean torques like "just before the bolt head snaps off?"

Gene,
That's about what I figured but just wanted to see if there were settings. I sure could not find anything in the factory manual on it!

Roy;
I just went through this with Tony's GT, but, we replaced the front suspension. We just put a good hurt on the bolts.

My front suspension is out right now, too. I have already rebuilt it and will be installing it back in this week. I think I saw in the book the torque setting for the front suspension to the body! I can't remember what it was right now...

Roy, according to my Hayne's Manual for the front suspension cross member bolts, the torque is 36 foot pounds and for the engine/tranny cross member bolts, it's 30 foot pounds.

general torque settings

Dear Opellers,
I found an interestning website where you have an idea about torque settings that can be used when you don't have the specific data.
It is in dutch but it is quiet easy to understand.
The first colum is the sort of threat (metric), 6,9; 8.8 and 10.9 is the quality of the bolt you use.
Remark that the torque settings in the diagram are maximum settings; nominal settings are 7% less.
Hope to help you out with that,
Greetings,
Eddy

Eddy, Ron and Gene,
Thanks for the information! That really helps me out. I guess I need to get a Haynes book now.
Again, thanks for your help...

Roy, those torque values were for the "main" bolts not the hanger strap bolts on the engine crossmember that go into the tranny tunnel. Those are smaller and would take less torque. Although they are not specified, the general torque values for a 10mm bolt (15mm head) is 30 ft. lbs., an 8mm bolt (13mm head) is 15 ft.lbs., and a 6mm bolt (10mm head) is 30 in.lbs. HTH.

Gene, Roy is a school teacher I'd say he can tighten them with hand tools as tight as he wants and not worry about over torqueing them.

Memory bank is probably bankrupt. NOT! Wow, no hair on your butt just like I figured.

Who's yo Daddy?

About the light at the end of the tunnel thing, it's probably the train. I have to quit posting now as I'm sure I've used up my allotment of smilies.

Mod's, you won't hurt my feelings if you delete this series of "jests". Please give Oooner plenty of time to read this as he is a slow reader before deleting. IF he comes back with something really good you may go ahead and delete it immediately!

Gary, I thought the terminology was "Smoke Tight And A Quarter Turn"

That is tighten the bolt until it starts smoking, then add a quarter turn more.

stars

Those bolts would be two stars tight, as in tighten until you see stars, but only two of them.
